Like the subject says: I’m not pregnant yet, but we are no longer using any type of birth control! Allthough we are not married yet, we would love to become pregnant within a year… And last night we were talking about what names we like.
We both really like [name]Anna[/name]/[name]Anne[/name], but one of his best friends daughters name is [name]Anne[/name]… When I think about this, I get sad because I’ve always like [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name]. [name]Anne[/name] is my middle name and a family name on my side of the family AND his side.
So do you have any suggestions? Or should we, if we have a little girl, just use [name]Anna[/name]? I do like Annebel/[name]Annabel[/name], but our last name has 3 syllables as does Annebel/[name]Annabel[/name].
And I seem to love girl names that end with -a. Like [name]Emma[/name], [name]Eva[/name], [name]Sophia[/name], [name]Amelia[/name], [name]Isabella[/name] (although I think it is to long with the LN), [name]Isa[/name], [name]Vera[/name], [name]Rosa[/name], [name]Ella[/name]…
He really dislikes:
[name]Finn[/name] & [name]Hugo[/name] for a boy, two names I love! He also thinks [name]Noah[/name] is way to girly ([name]Noa[/name] is very popular for girls overhere…)
Can you help me with some names that are similar to [name]Finn[/name], [name]Hugo[/name] & [name]Noah[/name]?
I know we still have many months/years until we really have to choose a name, but I would like to hear your opinions!
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Anne[/name] names, and I personally wouldn’t drop [name]Anne[/name] or [name]Anna[/name] because your husband’s best friend’s daughter is named [name]Anne[/name]. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Annabelle[/name], too, and while I personally think it sounds fine with a longer last name, if you’re uncomfortable with the flow, that’s what matters.
For me, fact that [name]Anne[/name]/[name]Anna[/name] are family names for you trumps the fact that it’s your husband’s friend’s daughter’s name, and I think it would be lovely for you to use either. (I adore the [name]Annie[/name] nickname, too.)

[name]Alice[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Cora[/name]
[name]Calla[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Diana[/name] (another way to reach [name]Anna[/name] or [name]Annie[/name] nicknames)
[name]Eliza[/name] (may be too long for you)
[name]Eva[/name]
[name]Eve[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name] (less popular than [name]Ella[/name])
[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Frances[/name] (you could call her [name]Frannie[/name] or even [name]Annie[/name])
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Hope[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Nell[/name]
[name]Rose[/name] (first name)
[name]Stella[/name] (less popular than [name]Ella[/name])
[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
If you’re open to longer names, you could also reach [name]Anna[/name]/[name]Annie[/name] nicknames with:
[name]Noel[/name] for a boy? And for some reason [name]Noah[/name] has always reminded me of the name [name]Joel[/name]…
I like the girl names [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Ella[/name]
Some other girl names that end in a…
[name]Sophia[/name]
[name]Bella[/name]
[name]Clara[/name]
[name]Ava[/name] (i love ava sooo soo much)
[name]Mara[/name]
[name]How[/name] about [name]Anastasia[/name]? You get [name]Anna[/name] and your A ending, but it may work better with your surname? Or you could try [name]Annabella[/name] instead of [name]Annabel[/name]? Some 3 syl names would work with a 3 syl surname - I do think it depends on where the stresses are in each word. My surname is 3syls, but [name]Annabel[/name] sounds good with it because the stress in my surname is on the second syll.
I love most of your name choices. It also depends on where you live? My name is [name]Emma[/name] and its always been a popular choice here in the UK, and i believe its now No1 in the Us - maybe due to [name]Ross[/name] and [name]Rachel[/name] in Friends having an [name]Emma[/name]!!! [name]Isabelle[/name] and all its variants is massively popular here too at the moment, which puts me off…not sure how you feel on this.
On another note, i have a boy called [name]Finn[/name] ([name]Fintan[/name] actually, and his twin brother [name]Oscar[/name]/[name]Oz[/name]) and [name]Hugo[/name] is in the top 3 for another boy!
