Not quite Madeline

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries!
So, a while ago I heard the name Mah-deh-len (or Mah-duh-len, i cant remember)
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you know if this is a different way of pronouncing [name_f]Madeline[/name_f], a completely different name or just made up?

I’ve always pronounced [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] that way. [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] = Mad-uh-line to me.

This. And [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] with a [name_u]LYN[/name_u] ending.

Could’ve been [name_f]Magdalen[/name_f] pronounced with a silent G.

[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].

I also would pronounce [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] that way.

thanks a bunch! : ))

Yep. That’s pretty much how I would say [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (or [name_f]Madelene[/name_f]). It’s my favourite pronunciation.

I spell it as [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f].

I’ve heard it both ways. I think (and someone please correct me if I’m wrong) Mah-duh-len is the [name_m]French[/name_m] pronunciation of [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]. It’s definitely not made up though. Personally, I prefer this pronunciation (but that might be the [name_m]French[/name_m] Immersion student in me talking).

That’s my niece’s name! She spells it [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]
