I’ve posted so many times about my main character I’m starting to tire of myself. However, I’m still struggling with her name. I thought I had settled on [name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name] [name]Magda[/name]/ [name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Magda[/name] [name]Louise[/name] with the nickname [name]Romy[/name], but after writing with it, it doesn’t really feel right. Plus, I was dead set on using the surname [name]Rosen[/name] or Rosenthal, and I think [name]Rosemarie[/name] [name]Rosen[/name]/Rosenthal sounds like to much rose for one person. Am I totally crazy? I know [name]Edith[/name] isn’t the name, but none of my other choices are working out either. Nothing feels right.
Anyone have any ideas?

I love the name [name]Rosemarie[/name] (esp. with that nickname! [name]Romy[/name] sounds cute) but I agree that it might not sound right with [name]Rosen[/name]/ Rosenthal as a last name. What other names were you considering before? Based on your entry, what about:

@happywriter- thanks for the reply! Other names in consideration were [name]Greta[/name], [name]Hedwig[/name], [name]Louisa[/name], and the origional [name]Edith[/name]. [name]Greta[/name] was cast off because she has a sister name [name]Margot[/name], and they’re essentially the same name. [name]Hedwig[/name] was unattractive, and no one voted in the poll, and [name]Louisa[/name] didn’t feel right- at all. [name]Edith[/name] was the origional, but it didn’t fit with her siblings. I sort of feel like I’ve been too picky, but it’s the main character, and I’d like to like the name I’m constantly writing. Thanks for your usggestions!
The names I immediately thought of are [name]Anneliese[/name] and [name]Annemarie[/name]. Other names with the nickname [name]Romy[/name] are [name]Romilly[/name] or [name]Romola[/name]. Have you considered [name]Charlotte[/name], [name]Eleanor[/name], or [name]Helen[/name]? I’m sorry; I don’t know much about the background of your story, so I’m probably not helpful.
@inkonherfingers- it’s fine! I didn’t give much background because I posted so many times before. My main character is an Austrian Jew, born in 1919. Her father was a doctor, and her mother was a university professer. She has seven siblings, five sisters and two brothers. On her fathers side of the family it was traditional to give everyone two middle names, and that tradition continued. Though mainly Austrian, her mother was half Dutch, and there were branchs of the family in [name]France[/name], Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
