Hello there! [name_m]Long[/name_m] time lurker, new member here! [name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I are expecting our first baby, a little princess!
[name_m]Both[/name_m] of us love the sound and idea of the name [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]; however, we both really dislike how popular it is and donât want our daughter to be one of many [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]'s in her class.
Weâre trying to find names that give us that same happy feeling but have come up short. We donât like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Sophronia[/name_f], Sophora, or any of the other ones similar.
Can you please help us out? We want something that has that girly and sweet feeling that [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] does, but something much less common. Iâd rather not post our last name due to personal and security reasons; but it begins with the letter B, ends with G, and is two syllables long.
[name_f]Linda[/name_f] and [name_f]Pam[/name_f] say:
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]'s only downside is its huge popularity. Alternative baby names you might want to consider: [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], [name_f]Susannah[/name_f], [name_f]Zofia[/name_f].
Iâm not sure how adventurous you are, but I think that [name_f]Zosia[/name_f] is awesome.
The previous poster, emma, had some good suggestions as well.
A few other possibilities:
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f]
[name_f]Aria[/name_f]
[name_f]Bria[/name_f]
[name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]
Before making any suggestions, I wish you luck in your endeavor to find âthe name,â however, if [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is the only one who ends up giving you that special feeling at the end of your search, I encourage you to go with her regardless of popularity. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], and I honestly love it. I am so glad my mother knew I was an [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], even though it was so popular a couple decades ago. [name_m]Even[/name_m] as a child, I loved my name. Also, less than 1% of girls last year received the most popular name of the year. It doesnât mean what it used to.
We like [name_f]Celia[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], and [name_f]Lila[/name_f]! I also think [name_f]Georgia[/name_f] is super cute but my husband doesnât like it
[name_f]Indira[/name_f] feels similar to [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] to me, although way more out there. Looking at the list of other names you guys like I suggest
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Camilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Arabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f]
There is nothing wrong with having a popular name. [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] is beautiful. A few suggestions I have are [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], [name_f]Aria[/name_f], [name_f]Lucia[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiora[/name_f].
What about [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] nn [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]? Gorgeous!
Also I absolutely love love love [name_f]Stella[/name_f]! Itâs so feminine and fun but seems very strong and kinda bad this donât mess with me vibe to it.
I really like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] too, I wish it wasnât so popular. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:
Sophelia (I guess its a combo of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], I love the sound of it)
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Isadora[/name_f]/[name_f]Isidora[/name_f]
[name_f]Sibylla[/name_f]/[name_f]Sybilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]/[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
[name_f]Natalia[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]/[name_f]Felicia[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]/[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]
Deliliah
[name_f]Layla[/name_f]/[name_f]Leila[/name_f]
Sorry for any repeats! I hope you find one you like!
**[name_f]Emmy[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] are super cute however we have âproblemsâ with them. We donât like the full names [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_u]Emery[/name_u], or [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] (and others that are too out there for us) for [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] and we donât like [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], or [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (weird, since we like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] anyway) as a full name for [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. Weâre considering just having them as full names on their own?
We also like [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] & [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], but my cousinâs daughter is named [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] and [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] is too close for me and neither of us like the alliteration of [name_f]Bridget[/name_f] with our last name. Also, please donât suggest other names with âsophâ in them. Like we said in the beginning, we donât like them. With the exception of [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and possibly one or two others, they sound super made up and like the parent was trying too hard to make their â[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]â unique which isnât what we want.
