Noushka?

Recently, asking for some names I got the recommendation of Noushka. I don’t think it’s in the database but actually love this name- spunky and I love Russian names. So, how do you feel about Noushka?

It’s okay! [name_f]Pretty[/name_f], phonetic. I would definitely assume this person was of Russian or Czech descent.

I think it’s cute! Reminds me of [name_f]Mushka[/name_f] (which I think means fly but I’m most likely wrong)

Noushka is sparky, distinctive and intriguing - I like it

I love [name_f]Anoushka[/name_f] with Noushka or Noosh as a nickname!

Cute sound, very very nickname’y vibes. I would assume she’s speaking some Slavic language and it’s not her real name (Anoushka should be a nickname? If I’m not wrong :see_no_evil:).

I really like the fun and distinct sound, but I’m not sure about its legitimacy? I’m no expert in Russian, but instinctively by looking at it I feel like it would be NOO-shka, not noo-SHKA - but please let me know if you have resources that show I’m wrong!

I also have a lot of diminutive names that I love even though they wouldn’t be used as full names in their language of origin, so Noushka/Anoushka only being nicknames in [name_f]Russia[/name_f] isn’t an issue for me, as long as you’re not planning to use this name on a real person! Then I’d probably recommend Anya/Anna or something similar, with Noushka as a nickname.

It might not be a “real” Russian name (I don’t believe it is) but there seem to be a few [name_m]Dutch[/name_m] women named it, according to a Google search. It seems to also be spelled French-style as Nouchka.

It’s not a name I personally love but it’s fine for someone else’s child.

yeah, thanks for the advice! I also would agree it’s NOO-shka and I think it would make a cute nickname. I mostly just name puppies that will soon go to new homes, so it’s not too big of a deal if it’s a pup named Noushka
