[name_u]Baby[/name_u] arrived safely yesterday by caesarean - and she’s a girl! 8lb 9oz!!
We’d narrowed down our list thanks to the girls name list and suggestions we got on our thread a few months ago and thought we had decided on [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] … but now that she’s here I can’t stop looking at her and thinking she doesn’t look like an [name_f]Aurora[/name_f].
I know she’s a newborn and thus looks newborny and not like her actual self … but [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] somehow seems too delicate for her? She’s a chubby, red faced little squawker with a shed load of black hair and I can already tell she is going to be a pain in the bum lol.
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] doesn’t strike me as the name for a vocal, troublesome chunk.
[name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] though … that strikes me as a name for a fierce, independent, cheeky, spunky woman.
DP has already made the announcement that she is [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] to family & they’d probably think I was a looney changing it now.
What do you think? Which do you prefer [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Mila[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] or [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f]?!
Would you go with your gut or stick with the planned name?
Congrats!!! [name_u]Baby[/name_u] girls are lovely
That’s a tough one! And unfortunate that your hubby already made an announcement. But there is still time if it’s something you feel strongly about. Does he agree? We took two names to delivery and our DD was also loud and determined and definitely one name over the other we had ready. Sure, newborns look like wrinkled old men, but they do come with some sense of personality and vibe.
One suggestion would be to stick with [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] but use the nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u] right away, which is very spunky? A friend has a two year old girl named [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and she is very spunky and loud. She calls herself ‘[name_f]Rora[/name_f]’ or ‘Wowa’.
I love both your choices, so you really can’t go wrong.
I think [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] sounds spunkier and more of a ‘firecracker’ name than [name_f]Nova[/name_f]. [name_f]Nova[/name_f] seems sweet and innocent, [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] can be shortened to ‘[name_u]Rory[/name_u]’ which, for me is easier to say (lol!) and is very spunky. Have you tried calling her by both names and just picking the one that ‘clicked’?
Congratulations! I prefer [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], definitely, and it’s not necessarily a delicate name. A mixture of the two would be [name_f]Nora[/name_f] or [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f]. [name_f]Nova[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] sounds very trendy to me. Let us know what you decide!!
Thanks for the replies guys. I spent last night calling her [name_f]Nova[/name_f] and this morning calling her [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] lol. Am no clearer myself on a decision. Going to give it a few days! x
I think both names are quite spunky. [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is sweeter but as others said, has some spunky nicknames. I think [name_f]Aura[/name_f] is super spunky and unique in particular.
I love the name [name_f]Nova[/name_f], it seems more peaceful to me, but [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f] is definitely spunky.
Would you be open to [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] [name_f]Juno[/name_f]?
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is, to me, one of the most gorgeous names on the planet–I would adore being called [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]! But I do love [name_f]Nova[/name_f] as well; so if you think she seems more like a [name_f]Nova[/name_f]–or if you just don’t like [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] as much now that you’re saying it out loud–I would go with [name_f]Nova[/name_f]!
I adore it! I am torn between [name_f]Nova[/name_f] and [name_f]Nola[/name_f] myself, and love [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] and [name_f]Juno[/name_f] so much!
I really love [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] - I meet one who was very ditsy and spunky - maybe a nn like [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or [name_f]Aura[/name_f] would help you connect to the original name better. I agree with pp who mentioned that the new combo feels by trendy - also the two 4 letter names make the combo feel a little incomplete to me.
Maybe you could mix and match a go for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_f]Bryony[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f] nn [name_u]Rory[/name_u] or something. Good luck!!! [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t stress out too much and enjoy you new baby as much so possible!!!
