Novalee - Please be gentle

I don’t like just [name_u]Nova[/name_u], as it feels pretty incomplete to me, but I’ve been crushing on [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] lately.

I know [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] is very trendy and “unique” but I do quite like the sounds of it, and it has the -lee ending that a) S/O seems to like and b) is shared with my niece’s name, which we think makes for a sweet connection.

Does it fit with other names we like, or is it too much? The names we’ve jointly agreed upon are [name_f]Zoey[/name_f], [name_f]Raelynn[/name_f], [name_f]Adalynn[/name_f], [name_f]Isla[/name_f], [name_f]Natalie[/name_f], [name_f]Aubrie[/name_f], [name_f]Jessa[/name_f], [name_u]Mackenzie[/name_u], [name_u]Hayden[/name_u], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_u]Leighton[/name_u], [name_f]Kinley[/name_f], [name_f]Averie[/name_f], [name_u]Macey[/name_u]/Maci, [name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Julissa[/name_f], [name_f]Aliyah[/name_f], [name_f]Emersyn[/name_f], [name_u]Addyson[/name_u], [name_u]Harmony[/name_u], [name_f]Hadlee[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Karlee[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f], [name_u]Delaney[/name_u], [name_f]Bella[/name_f], [name_f]Leilani[/name_f], [name_f]Khloe[/name_f],

Thank you.

It sounds really nice. Not sure of the -ee ending. I think [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] look a little prettier. (Also I’m happy to see [name_f]Jessa[/name_f] on someone else’s list!)

I used to really like [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] when I joined NB! I will say that I prefer the [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] spelling. It looks less made up to me. I think it’s actually an established name in Scandinavia? Which again makes it feel more legit.
Anyway, [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] has a sweet sound and I also like it more than [name_u]Nova[/name_u]! It works well with some of your names. Not all of them, but most of them!

Thanks everyone! I do like [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] as well, I’ll have to ask S/O if he likes that ending better or not lol. I’m not too picky about endings usually, so if he prefers an -ee or -ie or what-have-you, I generally go with what he prefers, since I have no preference!

It’s definitely nms, but I honestly do prefer it to just [name_u]Nova[/name_u], too. I think it fits in your list, particularly with names like [name_f]Raelynn[/name_f], [name_f]Averie[/name_f], [name_f]Karlee[/name_f], etc.

it’s not my style. I do personally prefer the [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] spelling though :)) the sound is super pretty and it definitely goes with all your other names!!

You shouldn’t feel embarrassed about a name being ‘trendy’ either, if you love it go for it

Thank you  I’m slowly warming to the idea that trendy names are ok to use - where I live, they’re all perfectly acceptable, common names to be honest - the only one I’ve never seen is [name_f]Leilani[/name_f] :stuck_out_tongue:

I think it fits very well with your other names! Maybe a bit more modern, but not too noticeable by any means. I definitely prefer [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] to just [name_u]Nova[/name_u], because I feel like the -lee sound softens it up! I would prefer the [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] spelling.

Yep, this is true! There’s quite a few variations of it:

It’s not super popular (as far as I know?) and it is a new “invented” name (it combines [name_u]Nova[/name_u] + [name_u]Li[/name_u]) but I really don’t mind that aspect at all. I don’t think just certain types of names are appropriate, and liking names that sound trendy is a perfectly valid & lovely style. :ok_hand:

[name_f]Novalee[/name_f] looks and sounds cute and quirky to me!

When I first heard the name [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] a few years back I kinda jumped on the hate bandwagon. Over time though, the name has for sure grown on me. I think it’s very cutesy and there’s always that “[name_u]Nova[/name_u]” beginning to fall back on.
I much prefer the [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] spelling. To me, [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] looks unfinished and especially “trendy” if that makes any sense.
I think it for sure fits in with your other names…I even know someone with two daughter named [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] and [name_f]Averie[/name_f]

[name_f]Novalee[/name_f] sounds cute, and is honestly a fairly common name where I live in the US. If it’s trendy, I don’t think it matters because it’s definitely a heard-of name! I know it’s been said many times, but I agree that the [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] spelling seems more complete because I don’t prefer -ee endings. It certainly fits with your list!

I like [name_f]Novalee[/name_f], though I do prefer the [name_f]Novalie[/name_f] spelling. It has a pretty sound. I don’t see how it’s much different from [name_f]Emily[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], other than those names being far older. I think it fits with other names on your list.

I think [name_f]Novalee[/name_f] is unique and sweet! Have you considered naming her [name_u]Nova[/name_u] (fn) [name_u]Lee[/name_u] (mn) and calling her by her first and middle name?
