We’ve decided that [name]Cordelia[/name] is definitely out of the mix and also that the names [name]Lillian[/name] and [name]Gwyneth[/name] are too meaningful to us not to include
so our final 3 are:
I love all 3 , and want to make sure that this decision is the right one.
[name]Beatrice[/name] I love for it’s history - [name]Dante[/name] and [name]Shakespeare[/name] (I teach [name]Shakespeare[/name] =) )but worry about it’s trendiness and if it is a 'pretty ’ enough name. (silly I know0
[name]Margot[/name] I also love for it’s quirkiness and meaning - [name]Pearl[/name] is the birthstone of both me and my SO (as well as my mum)
[name]Lillian[/name] I love for it’s vintage charm , [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gish[/name] and it honours lots of [name]Elizabeth[/name]'s fn and mn. But I do worry about it’s trendiness.
Any last minute input would be appreciated.
I’m letting the names sit with me for a week, hopefully I can decide by then , but would like to here some opinions to mull over.
I commented on your last thread that [name]Lillian[/name] is my least favorite first name of your choices… But [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is beautiful enough to convert me. Second choice is [name]Margot[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name]. I just adore [name]Margot[/name].
[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]. [name]Lillian[/name] is meaningful to you, and the idea of a little one named [name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] just gives me shivers of happiness!
[name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is so pretty! But I do think it is kinda trendy with all of the Lilys, Lillies, Lilianas, Lillianas and Liliannas out there.
I think [name]Margot[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] is my first choice, with popularity of [name]Lillian[/name].
I’m torn…I like one fn better than the others but I like one combo better than the one that contains that name! Ok, I’m going to go with the first name because that’s the name we use the most.
1 [name]Margot[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] - My favourite fn from your options is [name]Margot[/name].
2 [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] - This is the best combo as far as flow is concerned!
3 [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] - All fine names but the combo falls flat for some reason.
I am not a fan of [name]Margot[/name] although I like [name]Margaret[/name]. All of your other names are lovely. My favorite combo out of the names you have listed is [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]. [name]How[/name] does these names flow with your last name?
I agree with mischa entirely-- [name]Margot[/name] is the least common and most striking of your first names, but the [name]Pearl[/name] combination wins hands-down for meter and flow. Ay chance of putting [name]Pearl[/name] in the first slot, or using [name]Perla[/name]? Or changing [name]Lillian[/name] to the less common Scottish form [name]Lilias[/name]? I love [name]Lilias[/name] [name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Pearl[/name].
[name]Ottilie[/name], you are in the
uk, do you think [name]Lillian[/name] is too common there?
I wouldn’t want to change [name]Lillian[/name] to another form such as [name]Liliana[/name] etc as I prefer its simple elegance and although [name]Lilias[/name] is quite funky celtic - I can’t get past the ‘ass’ on the end - sorry , think it comes with studying and teaching language and lit, sound seems to really matter to me (I may also be neurotic, but you draw your own conclusions) = ) x
edited:Oh and we discussed also the possibility of [name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Lillian[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] - does this have the same charm do you think?
No I don’t think so. I’ve never met a [name]Lillian[/name] younger than 30 (and only one younger than 80). There was just above 100 [name]Lillian[/name]'s born in [name]England[/name] & [name]Wales[/name] in 2011, ranked at #426. That’s hardly anyone at all!
