Very excited to have confirmed that [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]'s little brother or sister is on the way!
We would love some fresh ideas, or opinions on our already formed list…
What do you think would work for [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]'s sibling? (Note that we are not particularly looking for a Irish name!)
Of your girls I like [name_f]Lola[/name_f] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. (Though [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] are quite similar… you might want to go for a different sound.)
PS I should say, too, that middle name advice would also be GREAT. One or three syllable middles would work best with our surname.
[name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] are definitely number one for me at the moment, so feel free to particularly comment on these two if nothing else. Would love your thoughts!
absolutely love [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_u]Eden[/name_u]! a gorgeous sibset with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] are my favourites out of your list, either would be beautiful with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]!
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] is my favorite boy name with [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. ([name_m]Ezra[/name_m] is my favorite by itself.)
I actually think [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] sounds really cute! [name_f]Lola[/name_f] and [name_f]Maeve[/name_f] is very pretty together too though.
I adore [name_f]Greta[/name_f]! It’s just gorgeous, and the [name_f]Greta[/name_f] Gerwig–which is where I first heard the name, though probably not what most people think of–association is a really positive one in my mind. I also love [name_u]Arlo[/name_u] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], though I’d advise against [name_m]Saul[/name_m] (it seems dated to me).
GIRLS: Lola - I’m not a fan of this, especially on its own. It seems incomplete and, in my opinion, wouldn’t age well. Greta - This can be both cute and serious. It would be a good choice! I personally like it best as a nickname for Margaret. Bette - I’m not crazy about this, because “bête” means “dumb” in French, and that’s what I think about every time I see this name. I much prefer Betty, for Elizabeth. Gretchen - I am neutral about this name. There is nothing that particularly strikes me about this name, but it certainly would not be a poor choice, being practical. Actually, I think Gretchen with the nickname Greta would be a good idea. Eden - I love this name. It has its classical roots but sounds fresh, and it feels markedly feminine without the dramatics and frills. Plus, it pairs so nicely with the equally curt Maeve. Jane - This would be a solid choice. It’s classic, sweet, practical, humble. You couldn’t go wrong.
BOYS: Arlo - I really, really don’t like this name. It sounds like a dog name to me, and for some reason, it just sounds foolish to me, as well as incomplete. Alfred - This would be a very refreshing choice! The nicknames Alfie and Freddie are adorable. I also like the way Alfred sounds with Maeve. They are both off-beat but suave, respectable choices. Eli - Cute, but I personally think it sounds flimsy on its own. Maybe consider having it as a nickname for Elijah, Elias, etc.? Ezra - This would be a fantastic choice. It is classic and handsome, and pairs impeccably with Maeve. Saul - This would be a good choice, too. It’s soft but substantial and sturdy, and it sounds great with Maeve.

I like [name_f]Greta[/name_f] and [name_m]Saul[/name_m]. [name_f]Greta[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] would work nicely as a combo, I think. Maybe [name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Alfred[/name_m]? I limited my suggestions to names on your list.
Based on this and further chats with my husband, we think we have probably narrowed our choices down to…
[name_f]Lola[/name_f] or [name_f]Greta[/name_f] or [name_u]Eden[/name_u] (he can’t be convinced about [name_f]Gretchen[/name_f]!)
and
[name_u]Arlo[/name_u] or [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] (although he thinks [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] sounds feminine and will need encouragement to actually use it for our baby…)
Also adding [name_m]Felix[/name_m] to the short list - thanks for the suggestion!
Based on this info, any middle name suggestions??
Or first name suggestions that really fit with our style (whatever that is?!) that I may not have come across?
