O names: Oriana, Omara, Ona & Orla

O names are all the rave for girls in my household right now (we loved [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] but popularity is a bit high…) and we’re considering [name_f]Oriana[/name_f], [name_f]Omara[/name_f], [name_f]Ona[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] for possible daughter’s (or daughters) first or middle names.

I’m in love with [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] (I chose [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and it was surprisingly my husband who suggested [name_f]Oriana[/name_f], which I loved immediately) and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Omara[/name_f]. I would really like for a girl to have [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] as a middle name after my nanna, in case we don’t have any boys, so thoughts on the sound and look of [name_f]Ona[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] are needed.

Most of these O names are my partner’s suggestions, but these are the four we agree on and equally like.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]! So spunky and pretty. I love the significance of [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], although I’m not sure about [name_f]Ona[/name_f]. Is it said like [name_f]Oona[/name_f]? Or more like OWN-ah? It looks nice, but I like [name_f]Oona[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] more, personally. I think [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Oona[/name_f] would be adorable for twin girls! [name_f]Orla[/name_f]'s not really my cup of tea, either, but [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is gorgeous.

Are you looking for more “O” names? What about these?

[name_f]Oona[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]/Olivie
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Olalla[/name_f] (Spanish name said like oh-LYE-ah. I think it’s gorgeous! It’s a form of [name_f]Eulalia[/name_f], I believe? I think [name_f]Olalla[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] would be incredibly beautiful, too, and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Olalla[/name_f] are gorgeous together!)
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] ([name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] is a stunning pair, and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] are so cute for twins! Plus, [name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is incredibly beautiful.)
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] ([name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]?)
[name_f]Orchid[/name_f] (I find it rather GP-ish as a FN, but [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Orchid[/name_f] are a beautiful pair, and [name_f]Orchid[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is a gorgeous combo)
[name_f]Odette[/name_f] (I love [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Odette[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Ondine[/name_f]
[name_f]Odile[/name_f]
[name_f]Odilia[/name_f] (omgoodness, I love [name_f]Odilia[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]!)
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f]
[name_f]Odelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Odele[/name_f]
[name_f]Odalis[/name_f] (said like OH-dah-leese, I believe. I think [name_f]Odalis[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] is gorgeous, and [name_f]Della[/name_f], [name_f]Lise[/name_f], or even Liesey would be really cute nns! [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and [name_f]Della[/name_f]? [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and Liesey? I guess it depends on if you say [name_f]Liv[/name_f] like “live” or “leave”, though…)

Sorry if you weren’t really wanting new suggestions–I didn’t mean to be annoying, haha. At first I thought you were wanting them, and now I’m not so sure. If you weren’t, just ignore these, haha.

Good luck!

Thank you for your response and ideas ashthedreamer!

I really like the name [name_f]Oona[/name_f] (or [name_f]Una[/name_f]) that you said you preferred, but it so happens that we live in a Spanish speaking country where it would be weird/frowned upon for being a numeral. [name_f]Ona[/name_f] is actually quite popular (pronounced somewhere in between OWN-ah and the first syllable of ‘onion’), in the top 50 where we live and it means “Wave”, as in the waves of the sea. [name_f]Orla[/name_f] was another one we really liked because it sounds like a movie star’s name, like from the silent era.

I absolutely adored your suggestions of [name_f]Olalla[/name_f] (I had never heard of this one), [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ondine[/name_f]. [name_m]Will[/name_m] check them by my partner.

Anyone else willing to add their two cents?

I like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f].

I love your [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] combo! I’m not personally crazy about [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] or the first names paired with it, but I’d encourage you to use it since it’s an honor name and you seem like you really want to.

Is there a reason you didn’t list [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] as a potential combo? I think that would be my favorite.

[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] are both gorgeous suggestions, as well! Not quite sure how well they go [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], though.

Out of your original O choices,I love [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f]! I think [name_f]Oriana[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] would sound just as awesome as [name_f]Orla[/name_f]!
[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f], [name_f]Orchid[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Oona[/name_f] and [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] are my favourites from PP’s list. I quite like the idea of [name_f]Opal[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] too! [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] or [name_f]Oona[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] I think both have great flow.

I would like to stick with just discussing [name_f]Oriana[/name_f], [name_f]Ona[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] because at this point it would only confuse us more to get more name suggestions, though we are very thankful to you berries!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Liv[/name_f] [name_f]Oriana[/name_f]. I love [name_f]Oona[/name_f] more than [name_f]Orla[/name_f] and [name_f]Ona[/name_f], but it makes sense what you said about [name_f]Oona[/name_f] being too close to uno/una. Both [name_f]Ona[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] and [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] are great too, my preference being the former. not really sure what else to say without suggestions. I think you got this! Good luck!
