[name_f]My[/name_f] daughter’s name is [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and while my husband and I hope to find another nature inspired name for our next child we don’t want to come off too matchy. I like the symbolism of the name [name_u]Oak[/name_u] for a boy but I’d like to hear your opinion of it paired with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. Thank you!
Poison oak and poison ivy immediately spring to mind. Third child could be called Sumac.
I like [name_u]Oak[/name_u], but it does seem very matchy with your daughter’s name. Sorry!
I thought of poison oak and poison ivy right away.
Honestly, poison oak and poison ivy did NOT immediately pop into my head – but now that I see the comments above, I can’t stop thinking of … itchiness.
I am sorry, but I have to agree with the other Berries: [name_u]Oak[/name_u] does seem too matchy with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and has a possibly negative connection.
Have you considered Summit as a boy’s name? It seems to possess the same sturdy quality as [name_u]Oak[/name_u].
Also: I taught young siblings named [name_m]Talon[/name_m] and [name_m]Forest[/name_m]. [name_m]Talon[/name_m] is a boy. [name_m]Forest[/name_m] is a girl. I assumed their parents worked for Greenpeace, but their mother turned out to be a cardiac surgeon with a big heart for Mother [name_f]Earth[/name_f]! [name_m]Forest[/name_m] or [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] might be another option for you. The little [name_m]Forest[/name_m] I know is the only girl I have met with that name.
(By the way, I absolutely adore the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. I am so happy it had made a comeback.)
Hmmmm … [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of these combinations?
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_m]Archer[/name_m] (I really love the vowel sounds with these two!)
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_m]Forrest[/name_m]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_m]Landon[/name_m], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and “[name_m]Land[/name_m]”
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and Summit
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] and [name_m]Talon[/name_m]
Good luck and be sure to post any future birth announcements on that section of Nameberry!
Again, I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!
[LEFT]I like it. I live in Australia, so I have no clue what poision oak or ivy are. [/LEFT]
Ooooh I just thought [name_u]Oak[/name_u] and [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] were too matchy-cutesy-themey, never mind the poison part. Yikes, that gets a definite no from me.
I do love [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] though!
Maybe [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] & [name_u]Bay[/name_u], or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] & [name_m]Cove[/name_m]? I think a water name is still a nature link, but not an overt theme.
I also love [name_f]Lois[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]'s suggestion of [name_m]Archer[/name_m]. That’s perfect! Constellation nature link and everything.
Thanks Berries! I hadn’t even made the poison oak connection! I’m a little bummed about the loss of this name but there were some really great suggestions so thank you!! Summit is very intriguing and [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] is a name on our list though I hadn’t pictured it in the girl spot. I could really work with that!
I consider [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] to be a nature name that is so familiar as a name-name that the ivy connection is secondary. So how about a boy name equally subtle?
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] & [name_u]Reed[/name_u]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] & [name_u]Quince[/name_u]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] & [name_m]Cale[/name_m]
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Oakley[/name_u] instead?
I like it. I think it’s usable and cute!
Are you only having two children, though? Because if you have more you’ll probably have to stick with the theme or else your other child’s name would seem out of place (if that bothers you).
