Obits.....

I don’t mean this thread to be morbid, but I thought this was interesting.

Today I just happened to check the obituaries for information about a neighbor, and I noticed the people were all over 80 (some as old as 99) and the names seemed to be coming back in style… Is it like that where you live?

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgean[/name_f]
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Mamie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]

[name_m]William[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m]
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m]
[name_m]Abraham[/name_m]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Louis[/name_m]
[name_m]Edmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m]

[name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f], [name_f]Emma[/name_f], and [name_f]Audrey[/name_f] are definitely modern winners. I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is coming back, but I haven’t seen it in usage. It should come back though. It’s gorgeous!
Most of the boys are traditional, perennially used. I think [name_m]Louis[/name_m] is catching on, what with [name_f]One[/name_f] Direction and the new prince. (and people will actually pronounce it loo-ee) The only boys I see as not back yet are [name_m]Edmond[/name_m] and [name_m]Abraham[/name_m]. Hopefully [name_m]Edmond[/name_m] (or [name_m]Edmund[/name_m]) will come back soon, though, as I think it’s a nice strong name for a boy.

Damn, this list could just as easily be the “births” section of the paper…Great find!
