I fell in love with the name [name]Octavia[/name] when I was young . I had bought a book second hand from a sale and inside a woman signed her name and address … And she had the prettiest writing, her name was [name]Octavia[/name]…

I love [name]Octavia[/name]. It would be the perfect replacement for [name]Olivia[/name] or [name]Victoria[/name]. [name]Octavia[/name] is elegant, regal, feminine, and strong just like [name]Isadora[/name]. [name]Isadora[/name] and [name]Octavia[/name] would be stunning as sisters. I like [name]Octavia[/name] as a middle name myself, so I’m not sure what to pair it with when it’s in the first name spot. Hmm.

[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Iris[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Audrey[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Lily[/name]

I love [name]Octavia[/name]! [name]How[/name] about [name]Grace[/name] as a mn? [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Grace[/name]…so pretty!

I love [name]Octavia[/name]! I think it’s distinctive enough without using the unusual [name]Ottavia[/name] spelling. I don’t think having the initials OB will be a problem- I think kids are the only people who tease others about their initials, and they probably won’t have heard the term OB. If I were you, I’d choose a middle name that’s not way out there (so probably not [name]Bellatrix[/name], although it’s a lovely name! maybe [name]Beatrice[/name] instead?), but make it a name you love and/or that has meaning for you. Ultimately, though, it’s your child and your decision. There’s no way to guarantee the child will like your choice. I hated my name ([name]Andrea[/name]) for a couple years growing up, but now I really like it.

Thanks southernmaple. I really like some of these suggestions.

And thanks everyone else too! Seems like [name]Octavia[/name] is preferred over [name]Ottavia[/name].

Oh, no… I ACCIDENTALLY voted for [name]Ottavia[/name]. I meant to vote for [name]Octavia[/name]!!! So deduct one of the votes for [name]Ottavia[/name]. To me, [name]Ottavia[/name] looks and sounds like a misspelling/mispronunciation of [name]Octavia[/name].

I’d like to add that [name]Octavia[/name] is beautiful! I hope you use it!

Thanks everwaiteing! That’s what I was wondering about [name]Ottavia[/name]…if people would be inclined to think it was supposed to be [name]Octavia[/name], but spelled wrong (even though it is a legitimate Italian variation). [name]Glad[/name] you like the name

[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Gale[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Grace[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Greer[/name]

For some reason I really like it with the hard “G” sound following. But I also like:

[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Mae[/name]

[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Coral[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Linden[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Margo[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Prudence[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Temperance[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Judith[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Belle[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Carys[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Florence[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Juno[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name]

Thanks judyariel for those ideas!..I keep coming back to [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Catherine[/name], it’s beautiful.

We have an [name]Isadora[/name] and an [name]Octavian[/name] (he’s a boy).

If our [name]Octavian[/name] had been a girl, he would have been [name]Octavia[/name]. I would have used the nn, [name]Tavia[/name]. I prefer [name]Octavia[/name] to [name]Ottavia[/name] because I think of [name]Otto[/name] when I see it.

living_skies_mama,

I like your suggestion of [name]Octavia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]! I really like the symbol of the pearl being “feminine wisdom”. Especially since my first daughter has the ancient middle name [name]Medea[/name], which is also related to the concept of “feminine wisdom” (before the Greeks took the name and made [name]Medea[/name] a vengeful nut-job in their mythology, but then they ALWAYS do that to perfectly good names, lol!)

Anyways, I think that would be a nice connection between the sisters, very different middle names, but same meaning

ekaterinas_mom,

Really??!! Wow, you have amazing taste in names
Any middles for an [name]Octavia[/name] that you had in mind? I love your name family!

[name]Octavia[/name] is beautiful! [name]Ottavia[/name] sounds a little odd to my ears, so I don’t like that.

I don’t think OB are bad initials! I’d probably go with a more simple middle name.

[name]Octavia[/name] [name]June[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Helen[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Octavia[/name] [name]Florence[/name]

I like [name]Ottavia[/name] a little better because [name]Octavia[/name] has more of a distinct association with history and roman stuff but [name]Ottavia[/name] is more modern and free. They are both lovely and you should use one of them for sure if you want to, regardless of initials.

[name]Octavia[/name] is lovely, classic, and underused. [name]Ottavia[/name], on the other hand, just looks like a typo to me.

Well, It’s nice to see a vote for [name]Ottavia[/name] too  I think it must be unfamiliar to many people, which is why [name]Octavia[/name] seems preferred.
[name]Glad[/name] to know that people don’t think the initials are a big deal…I must have been over-thinking it.
