Which name do you prefer?

[name_f][/name_f]Which would you consider to be more wearable out of the two?

I think both are equally wearable and very handsome choices, but I prefer Octavian’s softer sound.
I prefer [name_m]Octavian[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f] I do feel it’s more usable as well [name_f][/name_f]- it has the added option of [name_m]Ian[/name_m] as a nickname if you prefer, and [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] just feels much more grand and over the top than [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] does to me? [name_f][/name_f] Both are beautiful names, though!
[name_m]Octavian[/name_m] [name_f][/name_f]- I really like the [name_m]Tavian[/name_m] part of the name
[name_m]Octavian[/name_m] is my favorite! He feels a little softer, and less grand (therefore easier to wear).
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.
[name_f][/name_f]I think that I like [name_m]Octavian[/name_m]. [name_f][/name_f] It sounds a bit sweeter; a bit lighter. [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] just feels too bold, I think. [name_f][/name_f] I love the idea of [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] nn [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. ![]()
I equally like both but [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] does perhaps have a more familiar sound. They’re both very handsome names ![]()
Both? Both is good! I think both are wearable, and so, so handsome.
[name_f][/name_f]I am a total sucker for an -ius name, but I totally understand that -ian might seem less out of place today.
I think both are wearable however I prefer the softer [name_m]Octavian[/name_m]. For me [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] just rolls of the tongue and has a prettier sound. He’s very romantic.
[name_m]Octavian[/name_m]!
I prefer [name_m]Octavian[/name_m], I think it ends on a softer note, while the -us ending feels extra bold and grand. Similar to what I would consider the more gentle [name_m]Julian[/name_m], next to the commanding [name_m]Julius[/name_m]. Not sure if you are looking for any other alternative endings, but we had [name_m]Octavio[/name_m] on our own list.
I like [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] but I prefer the sound and vibe of [name_m]Octavian[/name_m]
I prefer [name_m]Octavian[/name_m], It’s a little more unexpected (in a good way) I think they are both wearable, but [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] feels more so then [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] for reason
I also prefer [name_m]Octavian[/name_m]
[name_m]Octavian[/name_m]! It has grandeur but has the familiar sounds of names like [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] and [name_m]Cassian[/name_m], and I like the completeness of it
Thank you for all your replies ![]()
[name_f][/name_f]It’s reassuring to read the support for [name_m]Octavian[/name_m]. I was looking at how much love the name gets on the Nameberry database, and it doesn’t rank very highly at all! [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] actually sits at a higher ranking, so I was curious to hear your thoughts. I’ll admit that the ranking of [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] has caused me to hesitate somewhat in using the name. I know that’s completely ridiculous and I shouldn’t base my name choice solely on this! But I often wonder why the name hasn’t been used over time as much as [name_m]Octavius[/name_m]? I love when a name has a solid historical usage, but [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] doesn’t seem to have this at all
[name_f][/name_f] Should this be considered a red flag?
[name_m]Octavian[/name_m]!
@adelaide_pearl[name_f][/name_f] in looking at Octavian’s name page, I did notice if you go under “famous people with the name” you’ll find that [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] was the nickname of [name_m]Julius[/name_m] [name_m]Caesar[/name_m] (in addition to Octavius) and was also the name of a former prime minister of Romania, so it does appear to have some history. In terms of history of use, it doesn’t appear that [name_m]Octavius[/name_m] was ever significantly more popular than [name_m]Octavian[/name_m]? both are what I would consider recognizable but rarely used, and both similar vibes but with [name_m]Octavian[/name_m] feeling a bit more cozy
