October Baby Girl: Please rank!

Due date: [name_f]October[/name_f] 10
Last name: two syllable, starts with [name_m]Mac[/name_m]

[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] are family names. I don’t like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] in the middle. Husband is still not 100% behind [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. Thank you!

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]! It’s stunning! :two_hearts:
[name_f]My[/name_f] second favorite is [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], followed by [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f]. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is my least favorite but it’s beautiful too.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]

They all sound beautiful though

Congratulations

  1. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. Versatile and elegant! [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite!
  2. [name_f]Ada[/name_f]/[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. Sweet, classic names. I like them equally!
  3. [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. It’s beautiful, just not my cup of tea.

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] would be unexpected and stunning! That would be my favorite, followed closely by [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], then [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], and finally [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f].

  3. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]

First, I love all of these—you really can’t go wrong. But if I have to rank them…

  1. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
  2. [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] (so bright and unexpected!)
  3. [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
  4. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]

Loving all the feedback. Some things I’m noticing:

  1. [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is a bit polarizing. People really love it or it’s not their cup of tea.
  2. Difference in responses from a similar post I made on Reddit namenerds. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] seemed to be the definite winner, probably followed by [name_f]Eliza[/name_f].

I probably like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] a little more than [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but I like how [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] adds length to such a short middle name.

Makes sense

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

Well, how am I supposed to help you? All of your names are lovely! I actually kind of like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] or [name_f]Rose[/name_f] as fns. Especially [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. It’s so sweet, smart & unexpected.

Here are my thoughts on the other fn options:

[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]-This is so darn cute. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is really down to earth sounding, & I love it paired w/[name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] is getting a bit more common, because I think that people are turning to it as an alternative to [name_f]Ava[/name_f]. I’m not sure how much that bothers you.

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]-This is pretty. It’s kind of dramatic, but smart & elegant too. In my area (midwest U.S), there are just a bunch of little Ceces running around, which is not my favorite. I like [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f], but think [name_f]Cece[/name_f] isn’t that cute & it may or may not be unavoidable.

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]-This is charming. Sounds like a little prairie girl. It’s simple & well known, but not over done & grows up well.

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]-Okay, this is probably my favorite from list. It’s stunning! It’s unique, bold, feminine & has a beautiful flower imagery.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

[name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]

I actually love them all, so this was difficult.

Great breakdowns! It’s so interesting that you hear [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] a lot in the Midwest because I’m in [name_f]Florida[/name_f], and I never hear it. But you’re right, I’m not a CeCe fan (much prefer [name_f]Celia[/name_f], etc).

Also, it would bother me if [name_f]Ada[/name_f] got really popular, but she’s still at 250-something so there’s room to go.

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband is on board with the rest, but I’m really working on [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] lol!!

my fave is [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], but closely followed by [name_f]Cecilia[/name_f] since your husband hasn’t gotten on board with it YET

Beautiful combos!

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f]!
What about [name_f]Della[/name_f]? Would you husband like that more?

Hmm, I may suggest [name_f]Della[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] because part of what he doesn’t love is the nickname [name_f]Dolly[/name_f].

Well, I honestly don’t think “[name_f]Dolly[/name_f]” would be a natural nn at all. Perhaps because ‘oll’ and ‘ahl’ have distinctly different sounds (at least in my accent). I think most people would just assume [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] is [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f], so I wouldn’t worry about it being shortened by anyone.
