Odd name out

I am writing this story a few weeks ago and I find myself stuck because I can not resolve an impasse. My story is about four friends’ relationship facing the difficulties of life. And the names of friends are…
[name_f]Antigone[/name_f] “[name_f]Tina[/name_f]”, [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], Lysandra “[name_m]Zan[/name_m]” and… [name_f]Danielle[/name_f].
It seems to me that [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] does not “mix” with the name of the other girls, but it’s my best friend’s name and I want to put it.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think that’s weird?
Perhaps an unconventional nickname for [name_u]Dani[/name_u] could help?

[name_u]Danya[/name_u], [name_f]Danae[/name_f], [name_u]Aydan[/name_u], [name_f]Danu[/name_f]. [name_u]Danya[/name_u] due to pronounciation probably is your best option

Since the other three names are greek, [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] does kind of stick out. I think it’s nice that you want to honor your best friend, so you could maybe use it on another character? If you’re set on that particular character being named after your friend, you could use a variation like what Katiesa suggested. I personally think that [name_f]Danae[/name_f] would work best as it’s greek like the other names. Good luck with your story!

I’m siding with the other users. [name_f]Danae[/name_f] might work best if you still want to honor your friend, but if you think it sticks out. you might have to look for another one.

You have a lot of options here. You can go with an unconventional nickname; you can pick a name that fits in better and have [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] make a cameo; things like that.
What if you called that character Nielle (or something. I don’t like it much and it still sticks out but it helps me prove my point) for the story and revealed to the audience later that it’s short for [name_f]Danielle[/name_f]?

It all really depends on the finer details of your story. In real life you’ll find plenty of friends who have quite different names. One of my best friends is named [name_f]Rachelle[/name_f] and I’d never pair that with my name but that has nothing to do with our friendship. My middle name [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] happens to be Greek but I’d say it stands out just as much as [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] does when put next to your other names. Another point about my middle name is that I was named after my Polish great-grandmother who’s name was [name_f]Zofia[/name_f] but if I didn’t tell you that you’d have no clue, so maybe [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] is named after someone too. I also love the idea of [name_m]Zan[/name_m] and [name_m]Dan[/name_m] being friends.

Good luck with your story

My opinion? No, it’s not weird. They’re friends and not siblings. It’s more realistic for friends’ names to have some diversity with each other.

Maybe [name_f]Demi[/name_f]?

I personally do not think it matters, friends names do not necesssarily match in ‘real life’ so why should they in a story? Also it could be a little side story to [name_f]Danielle[/name_f]'s character, why her name is slightly different to her friends I.e is she is named after someone …?
