The other day I was reading a summary for the book Office Girl by [name]Joe[/name] Meno, and I was immediately taken by the full name of the main female character, [name]Odile[/name] Neff. I haven’t read the book yet, but it just struck be in the moment as seeming perfectly whimsical, off-beat without feeling forced.

Since then, I’ve been rolling the name [name]Odile[/name] around in my head a bit and I’d like to get some other reactions on it. Thoughts on [name]Odile[/name]? [name]Do[/name] you think that there would be pronunciation issues? [name]How[/name] would you pronounce it at first glance?

I think its ok. I sort of sounds like ideal though, or is it prn Oh-dil-lee?

I think that the proper pronunciation is something like Oh-dee-leh, but I’m not 100% certain. I completely get where you’re coming from - ideal/oh-deel.

Oh-dee-lah/O-dee-lay is prettier than odeal :).
