Officially pregnant and working on my lists!

I made a post like this in the girls forum too. I am officially pregnant and working on my lists before I turn them over to my husband, he is not as enthusiastic about name conversations as I am. I would like a name that is not dated to one era, is masculine, and one is an honor name. Please tell me your favorite combos and give me some new suggestions!

[name_f]Honor[/name_f] Names/Middle names
[name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Raymond[/name_m]
[name_u]Lee[/name_u]
McCormick
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]

First Names I like:
[name_m]Henry[/name_m]–He is neutral on this name…
[name_u]Jesse[/name_u]- He thinks this is a girls name…
[name_u]Dean[/name_u]-- he is neutral on this name
[name_u]Elliot[/name_u]-- He doesn’t know why he doesn’t like this name…
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m]–He likes this

He has recommended [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but all I can think of is the Whiskey (he thinks that’s cool…) and all I think of when I hear [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] is The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid.

My favourite on your list is [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and I think it checks off the boxes as not being tied to one era and being masculine. Others that come to mind are [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Desmond[/name_m], and [name_m]Marcus[/name_m].

Of your list, I would use [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]. It’s timeless and classy, and you both like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], so that’s a win. [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is also on both your lists, so [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] could work, too. Other suggestions:

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Andrew[/name_m] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Connor[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]
[name_m]Kevin[/name_m] McCormick
[name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Matthew[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathan[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u]
[name_u]Owen[/name_u] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_u]Ryan[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m]

I agree that [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is a bad idea. I absolutely love [name_m]Raymond[/name_m] and [name_u]James[/name_u] from your list. What about [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m], [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] McCormick?

My favorites from your lists (and your husband’s) are: [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u], and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]. I agree that [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is a bit too much. I do love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] though–I tend to think of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m] ([name_f]Viola[/name_f]'s twin from Twelfth [name_m]Night[/name_m]) rather than The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid.

I love [name_m]Jack[/name_m], but not with [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] Mccormick
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Raymond[/name_m]

If he doesn’t like your suggested names, I would keep looking.

Suggestions:

[name_u]James[/name_u] as a first names
[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_u]August[/name_u]/[name_u]Gus[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
Mccormick/[name_m]Mac[/name_m]
[name_u]Reid[/name_u]

I like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m], I think your husband sounds like my husband. I know a lot of [name_u]Sam[/name_u]'s of different ages but it doesn’t seem overused, I know two young Henrys, I know an adult [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] yes a girl but Biblically its a boys name, I think it was the unisex name they picked, I don’t know anyone called [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] but I [name_u]Love[/name_u] it, I feel like I associate it with [name_m]Pete[/name_m]'s dragon though so I can’t use it either, and [name_u]Dean[/name_u] I see pop up a lot with [name_u]Sam[/name_u], I know one twenty something [name_u]Dean[/name_u], I like dean too though. If you both like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] and want to use a namesake middle though you have lots of good options. If those are your associations for his suggestions unwound skip them… I agree its no fun to dislike the suggestions. My husband and I are thinking for the next baby if its a boy we have a little list with first names we both agree we would use, he gets to choose one after the ultrasound at four months, I choose the middle name to go with it and that will be that. Sometimes its just the one name and we know that’s it. For example if [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] is all you can really agree on then maybe its your name or maybe you need suggestions ? But [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] has a beautiful meaning and is flexible and widely respectable and I really like it, it can grow with your child. Because of the meaning I would choose something else with a lovely meaning as your middle, you’ve got lots of good picks!

Thanks ladies, for all of your input. I do really like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], I have just liked it for so long I want to make sure its still right.

@Oftenoverseas maybe I should reread this and it will make me love [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m], it is a name I want to like.

@dinosaursroar I agree [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] does remind me of [name_m]Pete[/name_m]'s Dragon, but I see that as a positive thing haha. [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] is my favorite and I wish he could get on board, but I do really like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] too.

From both of your lists/suggestions, my favorites are [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m], and [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] (maybe because all three are huge favorites of mine–just a stab in the dark there. :P). I agree with @oftenoverseas that I think of [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]/Twelfth [name_m]Night[/name_m] LEAGUES before I think of The [name_m]Little[/name_m] Mermaid (could be that it’s only because Twelfth [name_m]Night[/name_m] is my favorite Shakespearean play, though…). I agree that [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] is a BAD idea (even if objectively the names are gorgeous together), but [name_m]Jack[/name_m] itself is super nice. It seems like [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]'s a good option since you both like it.

I think [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m], [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], and [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m] would all be lovely options!

A few other ideas (if you’re looking for them):

[name_u]Everett[/name_u]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
[name_m]Felix[/name_m]
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]Julian[/name_m]
[name_m]Christian[/name_m]
[name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]Oscar[/name_m]
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Joel[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_m]Jeremy[/name_m]
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m]
[name_u]Rory[/name_u]

Good luck!
