Oh dear, I like Macy!

I just read a really lovely book about a young protagonist named [name_f]Macy[/name_f] and I am starting to like the name. It’s not something I’d usually like; but I have found myself in this position! It doesn’t really have the department store feeling as I live in Australia, it does feel a bit dated, better than [name_f]Lacey[/name_f] though. Teasing potential wise, I mean.

Thoughts?

I used to like [name_f]Macy[/name_f] until I realized it is spelling variation of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].

I prefer [name_f]Maisie[/name_f].

I actually like [name_f]Macy[/name_f] as well, though I didn’t know it was just a spelling variation of [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. ah well, I still think it sounds cute. Would be a cute nickname or middle name, im just not sure it has enough substance to stand the test of time as a first name.

I know a lovely 6 year [name_f]Macy[/name_f]. It is sweet and not dated.

I say [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_f]Macy[/name_f] differently. [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] like [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] with a bit I a “z” sound. I think it’s a cute name although a bit trendy.

I know how you feel; I felt the same way about [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] and [name_f]Clover[/name_f]. I’d say give it time, because if you’re really hesitant on the name, chances are you’ll find other stuff you like more - both rationally and emotionally (which is what happened to me, anyway).

I like [name_f]Macy[/name_f] as well, but prefer it as Maycie. I also like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], [name_f]Marcie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lacey[/name_f]. I think it’s gorgeous. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister used to have it pegged as her first born’s name when she was about 10 (she named her American Girl doll [name_f]Macie[/name_f]).

I say them different too.

I go back and forth on which I like better. Currently it’s [name_f]Macy[/name_f] (but I like the [name_f]Macie[/name_f] spelling better). I think it’s a pretty name that works on all ages.

Oh, I love [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] too and [name_f]Clover[/name_f] is lovely. [name_f]Mercy[/name_f] may be too wordy though, as much as I like it.

Well according to Nameberry it’s an alternative of [name_u]Massey[/name_u] - an English surname. I also say them differently:
[name_f]Macy[/name_f]: [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-CEE
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]: [name_f]MAY[/name_f]-[name_f]ZEE[/name_f]

[name_u]Macey[/name_u] is a nice spelling as well.
Anyway thanks for your opinions!

I prefer [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] to [name_f]Macy[/name_f]. I can see the appeal of [name_f]Macy[/name_f] if you don’t have the department store connection though. It was ruined for me by a person on tv. I’m not quite sure what show it was(it may hae been 16 and Pregnant), but I remember thinking that the person wasn’t all that bright.

Much prefer [name_f]Marcy[/name_f] and [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I don’t know what it is about the “[name_f]Macy[/name_f]” sound that I find so unappealing.

It’s not my style. I’ve always thought it lacked something in sound.
