I am expecting our fifth child in late [name]January[/name]/early February. I am really struggling with name choices! I have no list! No real options! My husband and I end up almost having to arm wrestle over our lists each time…needless to say, very different taste. We didn’t find out what we are having so that is adding to my over-whelmed feelings as we have always known what to expect in the past. We unintentionally started a trend with each name containing a “y” and having a traditional middle name. Here are the current sibling’s names…
I like [name]Sullivan[/name], for either a boy or a girl, but it doesn’t contain the “y”…[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Lou[/name], [name]Finlay[/name] but only for a girl…husband HATES it for a boy. I like [name]Flynn[/name] for a boy…and that’s about all I have right now.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
I have a brother named [name]Tyler[/name] but my husband offered that one up the other day…funny. I do like [name]Ivy[/name]…what do you think of [name]Ruby[/name]?
I like [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Flynn[/name]. [name]Sullivan[/name]‘s ok. Since it doesn’t have a "y’ in it, how about moving it to a middle name spot? Here’s some suggestions…
For a boy:
[name]Donnelly[/name] [name]James[/name]
[name]Tully[/name] [name]Benjamin[/name]
[name]Rafferty[/name] [name]Charles[/name] as well as
[name]Flynn[/name] [name]Andrew[/name]
For a girl:
[name]Tierney[/name] [name]Nell[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Lyra[/name] [name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Polly[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Gwyneth[/name] [name]Kay[/name]
I got it into my head that you wanted a one syllable middle for the girl, but that’s not really true, is it? At any rate, I was trying to match the rhythms of [name]Maisie[/name] [name]Rae[/name]…
Wow. Some great options. I am not set on the one syllable middle name for a girl, no. [name]Tully[/name] is cute. I had [name]Sully[/name] down for a boy as a nickname for [name]Sullivan[/name]…my husband’s middle name is [name]Charles[/name], so I would like to be able to use it, if possible. [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Kennedy[/name] are adorable, too.
I like [name]Charley[/name] [name]Sullivan[/name]!
Also, [name]Blythe[/name], [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Lydia[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] get my vote.
[name]Wyatt[/name] is also a great choice!
I like [name]Finlay[/name] - but only for a boy, not a girl. some suggestions…
[name]Kailey[/name] [name]Rose[/name] / [name]Kylie[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Kailey[/name] [name]Emma[/name] / [name]Kylie[/name] [name]Emma[/name]
[name]Kailey[/name] [name]Jane[/name] / [name]Kylie[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Lily[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Rose[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]
[name]Delaney[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
Girls:
[name]Sylvie[/name]
[name]Lydia[/name] (never really been a fan of this, but I recently met an adorable, super sweet baby and am starting to like it!)
[name]Shayla[/name]
[name]Amaya[/name]
[name]Maya[/name]
[name]Tayla[/name]
[name]Lacy[/name]
[name]Sylvia[/name]
[name]Kyla[/name]
[name]Kyra[/name]
Boys:
[name]Kyler[/name]
Kyden (a friend gave this as a mn for her son, because they thought it was too unique for a fn)
[name]Coby[/name]
[name]Jacoby[/name]
[name]Ryder[/name]
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Bryce[/name]
[name]Rhys[/name] (most would probably assume it was [name]Reese[/name])
[name]Jeremy[/name]
[name]Colby[/name]
[name]Raymond[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name] makes me uneasy for two reasons: (1) It sounds a little too much like “tyranny.” (2) [name]Joe[/name] [name]McCarthy[/name] (the paranoid, alcoholic anti-communist politician from the '40s and '50s) had a daughter named [name]Tierney[/name] - with his secretary.
I think [name]Ruby[/name] fit’s perfectly in your sibset. I would skip over [name]Finlay[/name] all together, though, because in that sibset, it would sound like a brother rather than a sister.
[name]Flynn[/name] is perfect for your sibset as well.
I do love [name]Flynn[/name]. It also means son of a red haired man…which my husband has red hair! He doesn’t share my love of it however…grrrr. [name]Ruby[/name] is also a great one…my concern is the red hair gene…one of our children has red hair…and it’s my daughter [name]Maisy[/name]. I worry about a redheaded girl named [name]Ruby[/name]…might get teased.
