Oh help! It's our 4th Girl!!

Oh goodness, I need help! We are expecting our 5th and last baby, and 4th girl, due [name_f]April[/name_f] 1st. Due to pregnancy complications, we may be delivering any day and we have not chosen her name yet. ACK! Our other girls are [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]. Can you guys give me your thoughts on the following?
Kailani - I love it. It’s gorgeous and Hawaiian and means “sea and sky”. But we are as white as white can be. Is it just too far out there?
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - A name I’ve loved for years, but our three other girls ALL have names that end in the “ly” sound, and we worry that it’s just too much.
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband has put “[name_u]June[/name_u]” out there, and we’ve also considered [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Maren[/name_f].

Can you tell I’m in big trouble?? But I so need a name for this baby girl. She’s going to have a fight ahead of her, and I need to have a name.

Thank you!!!

Kailani is lovely, but unfortunately is a bit too exotic compared to your very traditional older girls. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] does sound a bit rhymey. I’ve never been a huge fan of [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], plus it too has a lot of the “l” and “ee” sound. I strongly dislike [name_f]Maren[/name_f]; plus, next to your very classic other names, it feels a bit trendy and out of place.

[name_u]June[/name_u] intrigues me; it feels a little short though. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Junia[/name_f] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f]?

Right, Bibliophile?? Uuuuuugh. [name_f]Every[/name_f] name I find just doesn’t feel quite right.
Going with more traditional, but maybe more playful names, tossing out [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], or [name_f]Camille[/name_f]??? (The Spouse doesn’t need to have an opinion, right?

I agree, Kailani is beautiful, but too ethnic and doesn’t go with the names of your other girls. From the names you’ve mentioned, I love [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_u]June[/name_u] with your sibset.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Polina[/name_f]'s suggestions of [name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] (though [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] does have that -ly ending). I also like your idea of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] quite a bit.

Another idea that occured to me; it [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]'s an issue because of the ending, how about [name_u]Felice[/name_u]?

I think Kailani is beautiful as well, but I don’t think it fits in with your other names (which I love). I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] would fit in, though I do not care for it. I do not think [name_u]June[/name_u] fits with the others. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Maren[/name_f] are nice and I think would fit nicely.

[name_f]Zoe[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Hallie[/name_f]
[name_u]Harper[/name_u]

LOVING the suggestions!! More, please!!

[name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] ([name_f]Norah[/name_f]??) – I like all of those!
Hadn’t thought of changing [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] to [name_u]Felice[/name_u], but that is definitely an idea.

We are planning on the middle name “[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]” because it’s where we were from, but we moved this little one will never know the place that we consider home.

So [name_f]Cora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]? [name_f]Nora[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]? [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]? [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]…

Does the middle name throw things off?

If you’re definitely using [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as a middle name (which I love), then I would strongly suggest avoiding first names that also end in ‘t’ (i.e. [name_f]Violet[/name_f]). Your other choices are all lovely. I also like [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Maren[/name_f].

Maybe you could consider [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]/[name_f]Kaya[/name_f] or [name_f]Maia[/name_f]/[name_f]Maya[/name_f] as a little tamer choices than Kailani?

[name_m]How[/name_m] about…
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lila[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]

I really like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (and [name_u]Felice[/name_u])

Kailani is cool-- if you guys love it, go for it-- who cares-- but it will stick out when on family cards & saying their names together-- it’s not a terrible issue though–

[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] & [name_u]June[/name_u] +
[name_f]Camille[/name_f] +

I am hearing you say you want playful but pretty names and stirring away from the -y trend.

[name_f]Cora[/name_f], [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]

These are bit on the whimsy side but still, I think, approachable…

[name_f]Nina[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (nickname could be [name_f]Nora[/name_f])
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Gema[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

[name_f]Ida[/name_f]
[name_f]Theodora[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]

[name_f]Edit[/name_f]: Sorry for repeats, didn’t see it before I posted.

I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] would be perfect with your other girls’ names!!

Yay! Progress!!

I agree about not being able to do [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] because it sounds like two "t"s running into each other. A very good point.

Adding [name_f]Kaya[/name_f]/[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] (hadn’t even considered), [name_f]Zora[/name_f], [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] to my list. Also–[name_f]Opal[/name_f]?! I love it!!! Is it still too unusual? (It sounds like one of those names that is going to be really popular in 3-4 years to me…)

I actually love the name [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and you could nn her [name_f]Flick[/name_f] so that the -y ending doesn’t become too much.
I was going to suggest [name_f]Celine[/name_f] until you mentioned the middle name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]! [name_f]Opal[/name_f] is not too out there and lovely with your sibset! Some other ideas are:
[name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f]Oriole[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Nerissa[/name_f]
X

Ahh! [name_f]Flick[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] is fantastic. Thanks for the suggestion, Hanbow. ([name_f]My[/name_f] only other nickname thought was Lissy, which is too close to our [name_f]Lucy[/name_f].)

Lunalu, I keep reading and re-reading your list. There are some names I have never considered there. Thank you!!

I am open to any and all other suggestions, too. Especially those that go well with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

Oooh! I love your daughters’ names! I agree with other posters that Kailani doesn’t really “fit” with the other names. I think [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] fits well and I don’t mind the end sound repeating (I think it’s cute), but if it bothers you then scrap it. I am not a fan of [name_u]Felice[/name_u] (think of all those times a mom has to call kids’ names quickly–“Fleece!”). I think [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is lovely. I love [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], and [name_f]Pearl[/name_f], but I’m not sure they flow well with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] have been on my shortlist for ages and go nicely with middle name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. If you like [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Cora[/name_f] (both adorable!), you might also consider [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f].

I’d add the suggestions…
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Augusta[/name_f]
[name_f]Miriam[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Annaliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]

Although I love [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] I wouldn’t use it with your sibset as she needs sisters named [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] and [name_f]Stella[/name_f], so I suggest [name_f]Elise[/name_f], (like suggestion of [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]) also [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] and I don’t think it would be a big deal to have your final daughter with a y ending name. I would go for [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] from your list.

Congratulations!

[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] {and}

[name_m]Cagney[/name_m], [name_u]Carey[/name_u], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u], [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Molly[/name_f], [name_f]Nancy[/name_f], [name_u]Paisley[/name_u]

sigh I adore the name [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. This baby is Grandbaby #29 on my DH’s side and #13 on my side. Which means we have a little niece named [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. But you’re definitely on the right track!!

Aw, thank you! Great list!! Taking notes…
