Always had a bit of a soft spot for [name_m]Roger[/name_m], because of childhood (who am I kidding, adulthood, tòo!) favourite 101 Dalmatians, but recently I’m really beginning to love it. Whether I would use it, I don’t know, but I think a line in the film describes my feelings of it perfectly, ‘…[name_m]Roger[/name_m] is a rather handsome animal in his way.’
What do you think and what would you pair with it as a middle or a sibset?
I love the name [name_m]Roger[/name_m], it’s also one of my faves.
I’d pair it as [name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_u]Eliot[/name_u]
In a sibset i’d pair it [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f] or [name_m]Miles[/name_m]
I find it hard to imagine a young person named [name_m]Roger[/name_m]. It may be because I grew up with a man neighbour named [name_m]Roger[/name_m]. I don’t mind it. It has a similar vibe to me as the name [name_m]Nigel[/name_m], maybe even [name_m]Otto[/name_m]! It would work nicely with some other traditional style But not really common names!
I asked something very similar a few months ago because it’s one of those names that I love but I think would elicit a lot of head shakes in my circle. The response I got on Nameberry was mixed but definitely sided with the negative. I think a lot of Brits thought the name was for old men and hadn’t grown out of that yet. I do think that the name would sound fresher where I live in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u] as it’s not as common for older men.
I don’t typically care if other people like the names I like, but [name_m]Roger[/name_m] would be a risky one for me to use.
I know a guy in his early 20’s named [name_m]Roger[/name_m].
I like it, and while I was surprised to discover how young the aforementioned [name_m]Roger[/name_m] is, I think it may be due for a come back sometime.
Thanks for the replies everyone! Such lovely, positive responses. I was expecting much worse.
@18_25 I really like [name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_u]Elliot[/name_u].
@judyariel [name_m]Roger[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] sounds like an old school movie star, I love it! [name_m]Roger[/name_m], [name_u]Perry[/name_u] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] feels like a lovely sibset to me.
@toronto87 I’m really pleased it hasn’t been thrown out as totally dated but I do wonder whether I would risk it myself. Perhaps its destined to be relugated as a guilty pleasure, or maybe one lucky pet!
@creepereyes In his 20s? What a pleasant surprise. Can I ask where he is? I can’t imagine a 20-odd year old [name_u]Brit[/name_u] as a [name_m]Roger[/name_m].
