What do you think of [name_m]Neko[/name_m] for a girl (like [name_m]Neko[/name_m] [name_m]Case[/name_m], a total badass, [name_f]IMO[/name_f])? I like her spelling better than the [name_u]Nico[/name_u] spelling, but I wonder if it works for a girl.
Our other girls are [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lula[/name_f]. [name_f]Zadie[/name_f], [name_f]Lula[/name_f] and [name_m]Neko[/name_m] seem to work together, no?
[name_m]Neko[/name_m] is an incredibly unique name. I’m not too fussed on it to be honest and I think it looks too masculine with [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lula[/name_f] (gorgeous names btw!). I do like the suggestion of [name_f]Nia[/name_f] though. [name_f]Zadie[/name_f], [name_f]Lula[/name_f] and [name_f]Nia[/name_f] look like a sibset!!
I think [name_m]Neko[/name_m] could work for a girl; with that spelling, it reminds me of Japanese girls’ names with the “ko” ending like [name_f]Yoko[/name_f] and [name_f]Kimiko[/name_f]. Sure, you may have some people assuming she’s a boy, but she won’t be the only one, the girls named [name_u]Riley[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] would have this problem too, so I don’t think it’s a reason to automatically rule out a name.
I do think [name_m]Neko[/name_m] sounds more boyish than [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lula[/name_f] though, so within that sibset especially I would be more likely to think she’s a boy. But they won’t be referred to as a sibset forever, once they’re grown up this will come up much less. [name_m]Just[/name_m] some things to think about, as to whether it’s a problem for you or not
I too associate it with cats—it was the name of an infamous cat in our family (before I was born, and stories are still told). So I can’t quite picture it on a human, male or female.
I have to say I prefer the classic [name_u]Nico[/name_u] spelling (I have a funny thing about the letter K in girls names) - but I really like it! I know a little girl called [name_u]Nico[/name_u] and nobody’s ever been confused about her gender. And I think it matches really nicely with your daughters’ names.
I really don’t like the spelling, and I think even [name_u]Nico[/name_u] looks very masculine with sisters [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lula[/name_f] (both of which I love).
I like the sound, but I’m not crazy about the look, to be honest. I’d prefer [name_u]Nico[/name_u], I think, or even [name_m]Neco[/name_m] — the unfamiliarity of it plus the “k” make [name_m]Neko[/name_m] look a bit made-up to me.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Echo[/name_u], or [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]/[name_f]Clio[/name_f]?
I really like [name_u]Nico[/name_u]. I would avoid the japanese spelling, I lived in Japan and I think it would be a bit strange.
I was surprised your other girl names were so girly but I do think [name_u]Nico[/name_u], [name_f]Zadie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lula[/name_f] are sweet together
