Okay, here me out on this

I kinda want to name one of my characters Katherine, and give her a completely out there nickname that no one would think of.

what do you guys think of Katasha?

Since Kasia (Kasha) is a diminutive of Katherine/Katarzyna, I can see Katasha working. I would consider whether there’s a story within the narrative of how she got to Katasha however.

(just as an example, I knew someone called T!zzy because their mum wanted to call them Kizzy but their dad wanted something more ‘familiar’ so she got called Tilly but ended up T!zzy)

Naming and developing characters is such a fun part of writing— if you feel like that’s a fitting name and nickname for her, then I think you should go for it!

On first impression, Katasha[name_f][/name_f] has a sweet and cosy feel; it reminds me of Russian diminutives such as [name_f]Natasha[/name_f], Katyusha[name_f][/name_f] and [name_f]Sasha[/name_f].

However, I do agree with @Greyblue[name_f][/name_f] that you might want to consider how[name_f][/name_f] she became Katasha[name_f][/name_f] instead of, say, [name_f]Kate[/name_f].

[name_f][/name_f]I do actually I have a plan on how she got Katasha.

[name_f][/name_f][name_f][/name_f]Summary[name_f][/name_f]

when her mother was pregnant with her, her mother wanted to name her [name_f]Natasha[/name_f] after [name_m]Black[/name_m] Widow, but her father wanted to name her [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] after his sister (his sister is [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] Katherine), so they came to an agreement that they could name her [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] but call her Katasha so it’s like she’s also named after [name_m]Black[/name_m] Widow
