Okay I have a (very) long list...

Anyone care to shorten my very long list to 10-ish favourites? I’ve annotated it slightly to highlight pns and stuff…

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] - worrying this is too close to [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] esp. with her new popularity. [name_m]Said[/name_m] AIL-sa like the place, common in [name_f]Scotland[/name_f].
[name_f]Annabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] i[/i]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Betsan[/name_f] - Welsh form of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_u]Billie[/name_u]
[name_f]Buffy[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Constance[/name_f]/[name_u]Connie[/name_u]
[name_f]Edwina[/name_f]
[name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] i[/i]
[name_f]Eithne[/name_f] i[/i]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lizbet[/name_f]
[name_f]Elva[/name_f]/[name_f]Elfie[/name_f]
[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_u]Fran[/name_u]/[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Geraldine[/name_f] – nn [name_f]Deanie[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseabail[/name_f], [name_f]Iseabal[/name_f] and [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] - said the same, Scottish variant of [name_f]Isabel[/name_f].
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Kitty[/name_f] - used regularly in the UK as a given name
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhianna[/name_f] - never given much thought by NB but quite well-known in the UK, form of Welsh [name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Sybilla[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosaline[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogene[/name_f]
[name_f]Anabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

Okay I like:

[name_f]Anwen[/name_f] - Unusual but lovely.

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] - One of my all time favourites.

[name_f]Betsan[/name_f] - This is gorgeous. Never heard it before but it’s seriously cool.

[name_f]Clara[/name_f]- Used to love this but not so sure. Still like it for it’s Nutcracker connotations.

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]- Cute. Prefer Clemencè.

[name_f]Eithne[/name_f] i[/i]- [name_u]Unique[/name_u] and gorgeous.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lizbet[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Lizbet[/name_f] especially but [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is pretty and timeless.

[name_f]Elva[/name_f]/[name_f]Elfie[/name_f] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] both. Like [name_f]Effie[/name_f] too. [name_f]Elva[/name_f] is probably my favourite of the three but I am biased towards [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] as I adore the kiddo brand with the same name.

[name_f]Iseabail[/name_f], [name_f]Iseabal[/name_f] and [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] - Gorgeous and so much better than [name_f]Isobel[/name_f].

[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u] - Okay I hate [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] but love [name_u]Romy[/name_u].

[name_f]Thea[/name_f]- Like this a lot.

From your list I love…

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Estella[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Geraldine[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f]

[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Edwina[/name_f]
[name_f]Eithne[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Iseabail[/name_f] / [name_f]Iseabal[/name_f] / [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]

I adore your style, so this is really really hard, but here goes:

1.) [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]- I adore this name. I loved it before Despicable Me, but that movie made me love it even more. A wonderful classic that really deserves widespread use. This name is on my list, and it is one of my favourites, but it sounds silly with my last name.

2.) [name_u]Billie[/name_u]- Such a jazzy cool name on a girl. I love the combo [name_u]Billie[/name_u] [name_f]Mavis[/name_f], which is on my own list.

3.) [name_f]Constance[/name_f]/[name_u]Connie[/name_u]- I love this virtue name. It is a bit clunky, but I love it all the more for it. Another name that is on my list.

4.) [name_f]Edwina[/name_f]- [name_u]Love[/name_u]. Absolutely love this name. I went to school with an incredibly spunky [name_f]Edwina[/name_f] nn [name_m]Ed[/name_m], [name_m]Eddie[/name_m], [name_u]Win[/name_u] or Emu (there is a popular picture book in Australia called [name_f]Edwina[/name_f] the Emu) and I would use this name in a heartbeat. This is another name on my list.

5.) [name_f]Elva[/name_f]/[name_f]Elfie[/name_f]- This is on my own short list. Its nice to know that someone else appreciates [name_f]Elva[/name_f] / [name_f]Elfie[/name_f] / Elf.

6.) [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]- Stunning name that can be sleek and sophisticated or positively spunky. I love the nn options too: [name_u]Van[/name_u], [name_f]Eve[/name_f], [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], Jelly, etc. This one is on my list.

7.)[name_f]Geraldine[/name_f] – nn [name_f]Deanie[/name_f]- I love this name and I think it needs a comeback. The nn [name_f]Deanie[/name_f] is great too, and moves beyond the obvious [name_u]Gerry[/name_u], which I thoroughly dislike on a girl. This one is also on my list.

8.) [name_f]Kitty[/name_f] - [name_f]My[/name_f] sister has the most gorgeous friend with this name. She has a cat named Human, which I think is adorable. It is a stunning name, and it is on my list.

9.) [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]- I love this, I can’t look past [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m]'s [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], but I love this name so much. It is on my list, but I don’t think I would ever use it, because of [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m]. I would love to meet an [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] though.

10.) [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u]- Another name on my list. I love this name: there was a huge garden bed just of rosemary when I was a kid, and I associate with that, tucked underneath a rope swing under a fig tree.

[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Maeve[/name_f]
[name_f]Rhiannon[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ailsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Agnes[/name_f]
[name_f]Eilidh[/name_f]

those are my favs. [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] sounds so pretty to me lately.

This would be my top ten from your list:

Aoife
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Saffron[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
Eithne

Top 10:

[name_f]Anwen[/name_f]
[name_u]Billie[/name_u] – you seem to really love this one, so I’m all for [name_u]Billie[/name_u] as a first name paired with a feminine middle
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eithne[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]

[name_f]My[/name_f] top 10 for you :):

  1. [name_f]Agnes[/name_f]

  2. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]

  3. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]

  4. [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]

  5. [name_f]Edwina[/name_f]

  6. [name_f]Frances[/name_f]

  7. [name_f]Geraldine[/name_f]

  8. [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]

  9. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]

  10. [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]

Personally, I would eliminate;

[name_f]Ailsa[/name_f] - I know one, who is always mistaken for [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]/[name_f]Alisa[/name_f].
[name_f]Buffy[/name_f] - I can’t see this one working out well if I’m honest.
[name_f]Edwina[/name_f] - This is often ‘ed-ween-ah’ where I live, and the ‘ween-ah’ bit turns me off a lot.
[name_f]Elva[/name_f]/[name_f]Elfie[/name_f] - not entirely sure I’d want to be connected to an Elf at any age, haha.
[name_u]Fran[/name_u]/[name_f]Frances[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Frances[/name_f], but not a fan of [name_u]Fran[/name_u], I think of the actress, [name_u]Fran[/name_u] Drescher.
[name_f]Geraldine[/name_f] – I can’t picture this one at all, the only one I know goes by [name_m]Jed[/name_m] and she’s vile.
[name_f]Iseabail[/name_f], [name_f]Iseabal[/name_f] and [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f] - with the exception of [name_f]Ishbel[/name_f], these would get lost with all the [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]/[name_f]Isabel[/name_f]/[name_f]Isobel[/name_f]'s out there.
[name_f]Rhianna[/name_f] - while this is lovely, I feel like it’s too tied to the singer for me.
