Old fashioned Boy Name with F or I

Need an “old man” name to match brothers [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] “[name_m]Gil[/name_m]” and [name_u]Howard[/name_u] “[name_m]Howie[/name_m].”

Prefer it to start with an F to stay in the same part of the alphabet but could use an I name.

Must have a long version that can be shortened with an easy nickname.

My obvious choices are “[name_m]Franklin[/name_m]” or “[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]” but I wonder what else I’m missing. If it’s an I name, I’m considering “[name_m]Irving[/name_m]” but not sure I like “[name_m]Irv[/name_m].”

What other ideas do you have?

There is also a sister named [name_f]Eleanora[/name_f] “[name_f]Nora[/name_f]”.

Francis ‘[name_m]Frank[/name_m], [name_u]Frankie[/name_u]’
[name_m]Isidore[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Sid[/name_u]’
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Iggy[/name_m], [name_m]Nate[/name_m]’
[name_m]Finian[/name_m], [name_m]Finis[/name_m], [name_m]Finnigan[/name_m], [name_u]Finlay[/name_u], [name_m]Fingal[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Finn[/name_u]’
[name_m]Fergus[/name_m] ‘[name_u]Gus[/name_u]’

First names that came to mind were [name_u]Francis[/name_u] and [name_u]Florian[/name_u]. There is also [name_m]Fraser[/name_m] and [name_m]Ferris[/name_m].

@VEL suggested [name_m]Fergus[/name_m] and [name_m]Finnigan[/name_m] - love these with your other kids’ names

I do love [name_m]Franklin[/name_m] and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m] - [name_m]Frank[/name_m]/ie and [name_m]Fred[/name_m]/die. I also like [name_f]Florence[/name_f], [name_u]Florian[/name_u], [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] (love this), [name_u]Ira[/name_u], and [name_m]Ivan[/name_m] (I like this better than [name_m]Irving[/name_m]).

[name_f]Frances[/name_f] second these names!
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]/Ivar I adore [name_m]Ivar[/name_m]!
[name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] NN [name_m]Nate[/name_m]

I know you didn’t ask for E names but Eugene (gene) or Ernest ( Bertie) would be so sweet

Francis nn [name_m]Frank[/name_m]/Frankie/Fran
[name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ferdie[/name_m]
There’s [name_m]Felix[/name_m] but no easy nickname
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ike[/name_m]/Izzy
[name_m]Isidore[/name_m] nn [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]

Love [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]

Floyd immediately came to mind. I’m assuming you’re wanting a long name with a nickname though.

Fletcher “[name_m]Fletch[/name_m]”
[name_m]Fitzgerald[/name_m] “[name_m]Fitz[/name_m]” or “[name_u]Gerry[/name_u]”… maybe [name_m]Jerome[/name_m] ,“[name_u]Jerry[/name_u]”?
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] “[name_m]Ike[/name_m]”
