Old or sweet?

[name]Ruth[/name] as a middle name? [name]Do[/name] you think it’s sweet or is it just too old lady-ish?

Hmmm…I actually think it’s less old lady for a first b/c it can go nn [name]Ruthie[/name] as a kid. I’m not going to lie, I get old lady vibe from it though :o

I think [name]Ruth[/name] would make a lovely middle name. The husband and I considered [name]Ruthie[/name] for our daughter, but the flow was terrible with our last name. [name]Ruth[/name] was even worse, unfortunately, as our last name begins with an F.

I love [name]Ruth[/name]! It’s got tons of punch.

[name]Ruth[/name] is a wonderful name! I think it’s quirky these days but very strong and will serve her very well through her lifetime (which is something that is very important, [name]IMO[/name]) - I do love seeing [name]Ruth[/name] in the middle, though, not sure why, it’s just one I always try and pair things with, I think it’s fantastic.

Also, I am convinced that there is no such thing as too “old lady”, such a silly notion.

I think [name]Ruth[/name] is name of great strength and history. Names like [name]Bertha[/name] and [name]Myrtle[/name] are “old-fashioned” (the sounds are unattractive) . A name like [name]Ruth[/name] is “vintage”. It would be a marvelous name in the first or middle spot. There’s nothing wrong with old ladies.

I love [name]Ruth[/name] with a passion. I think it’s got an understated beauty for an older child/adult, and is super spunky for a kid. [name]Love[/name] [name]Ruthie[/name] too. In the interest of full disclosure, it was my grandmother’s name, so I’m very familiar with it

I prefer it as a middle to more currently predictable picks like [name]Rose[/name]/[name]Grace[/name].

It works up front if your style leans towards streamlined [name]Jane[/name]/[name]Claire[/name] type streamlined classics, but I think it’s a pretty solid choice for a middle with a whole range of FNs as it has most of the perks of [name]Rose[/name] (which, as has been beat to death, “goes with everything”) but isn’t as dull.

[name]Both[/name]! It has tons of charm. I highly recommend it, great history and a great meaning too.

[name]Ruth[/name] has been growing on me since I had a boss called that who hated her name. I listed a bunch of reasons it was nice, just to be polite and realized, hey, they’re actually true.

  • it’s classic
  • it’s easy to say/spell
  • it’s distinguished
  • it sounds lovely with any middle
-"[name]Rue[/name]" is the cute nn du jour [name]Ruth[/name] nn [name]Rue[/name]? SO sweet

Old and sweet. The two work together making [name]Ruth[/name] a great name.

I know a baby named [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Ruth[/name], love her name. I think it can be an excellent middle for sure.

I adore it! A beautiful middle name that packs a lot of punch for just one syllable!

[name]Ruth[/name] is a wonderful feminine name that has truly become restored. I love [name]Ruth[/name] for a first or middle name. I would definately use it!

I don’t think it is too old as a first or a middle…go for it!

I love the nickname [name]Rue[/name], too!

[name]Ruth[/name] is a great name! I think she would work nicely as a first or a middle name.

Very sweet! Also love [name]Ruthie[/name].
