[name]Hi[/name] there, I’m new-ish around here and am expecting #3. This time around, I’m not finding anything that I love and could use some help!
We already have [name]Hugh[/name] [name]Augustin[/name] [name]James[/name] and [name]Georgiana[/name] [name]Claire[/name] [name]Evangeline[/name]. They go almost exclusively by [name]Gus[/name] and [name]Georgiana[/name]. I really like older sounding names with a southern flair (we live in the south). I like British names, too.
We don’t want another G name, and our last name is similar to Shafer.
My current list for boys is:
[name]Truman[/name]
[name]Walt[/name]
[name]Garner[/name] - not sure how I feel about names ending in -er with a last name like Shafer.
[name]Rupert[/name] - is this one usable outside of the UK?
[name]Beau[/name] - too little to stand on its own?
[name]Sullivan[/name]
[name]Forrest[/name]
[name]Whittaker[/name]
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Edmund[/name] - [name]Love[/name] this one, but don’t want it shortened to [name]Ed[/name]. I like [name]Ned[/name], though.
[name]Ford[/name]
[name]Robinson[/name] - I want to honor my dad, [name]Robert[/name], and was thinking about using his name as a middle name. This one means “son of [name]Robert[/name]”, though, so it could work as a first. [name]Rupert[/name] is also a form of [name]Robert[/name].
I’m open to suggestions and would love to see what y’all think of my current list and what you can come up with! Thanks so much!
[name]Beau[/name] was the first thing that popped into my head when I read the title. I think it stand fine on its own
I also really like- Sulivan, [name]Edmund[/name], [name]Rupert[/name], [name]Arthur[/name] (though the last two do not feel southern to me)
Names that have a southern flair for me mostly are surname as first names or word names.
From your current list, I like [name]Truman[/name], [name]Beau[/name] (as a nickname-- as a stand alone name, I’m mediocre about it), [name]Sullivan[/name] ([name]Sully[/name] and [name]Van[/name] are both cool NN’s too), [name]Arthur[/name] (though it doesn’t sound very ‘southern’), and [name]Edmund[/name].
Some others:
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Clyde[/name]
[name]Destry[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Garrett[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name]
[name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Nolan[/name]
[name]Raleigh[/name]
[name]Calvin[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name]
[name]Roland[/name]
[name]Leland[/name]
[name]Zane[/name]
Whoa, there are tons of new options there. Thanks! I’ll have to sort through them and run a few past my husband.
I agree with the ends-in-r names. I keep telling my husband how difficult our last name is Thanks for the input!
I know a set of brothers [name]Augustus[/name] and [name]Thurston[/name]. I am not sure if [name]Thurston[/name] would fit what you’re looking for but just wanted to throw it out there just in case.
