I’ve got an awful cold today, so I have decided to turn to the naming community to lift my sniffy spirits.
At the moment, I am swooning over the old fashioned. All those clunky, sweet & down right lovely gems hidden away. Some of these you might say “ooh” to, and some of these you might say “ew” to, but right now, I am loving…
And I usually would include ones that lots of people enjoy, (think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Olive[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f]) but I’m looking for the ones that make you smile, and think “how pretty/lovely/cute/interesting”, instead of the ones you hear about lots on Nameberry.

[name_f]Enid[/name_f]

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you’re feeling better soon!
I love granny names! They feel so soft, sweet and cozy. Looks like I’m late to the party, most of my old-fashioned favorites have already been suggested. I have a few more left to add, though.
[name_f]Margot[/name_f] and [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] are on my short list for baby girl due [name_u]August[/name_u] 24th, so I am partial to those
Dans le même esprit, je considérerais:
[name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Agathe[/name_f]
Irène
[name_f]Marguerite[/name_f]
Agnès
I’m not usually a fan of this style of name, however, I must say that the name [name_f]Edith[/name_f] is one that’s making me smile lately. I love the -th ending and the [name_f]Edie[/name_f]- beginning - the two sounds work together really well - and although it is an old name, I can see it becing kind of cute too, working on a baby and child well.
I think [name_f]Faye[/name_f] fits in well here. I also think [name_f]Poppy[/name_f] and [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] have sweet/spunky feel to them. And of course [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]. And [name_f]Margo[/name_f] and [name_f]Agnes[/name_f].
I love [name_f]Jeannette[/name_f], [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f], [name_f]Virginia[/name_f], [name_f]Marguerite[/name_f], [name_f]Marjolaine[/name_f], Rosabel… and many more that I can’t think of right now!
I love [name_f]Nell[/name_f] (my choice nickname for [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]) and [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. I have loved [name_f]Margot[/name_f] since I was a little kid.
Thank you everyone! You’re all so kind. I am feeling a little bit better, so I went thrifting and wore myself out completely (to the point where I was shaking) but I found some great finds.
There are so many great names on these lists of yours, I’m going to go through them shortly!
