Olive Violet?

What do we think of [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as a name?

I like [name_f]Olive[/name_f] as opposed to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is a family name, but I’m worried if the amount of o and v sounds is too much, or am I overthinking?

Does anyone one have any alternative suggestions to [name_f]Olive[/name_f]?

it’s not my favorite. both of the names are lovely on their own, but the combo as a whole doesn’t flow very well. the v sounds blend into each other too much. also the fact that they are both nature names isn’t ideal.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] though the Vs run together I think it works. The flow isn’t perfect but I don’t find it difficult to say and I adore both names so I think it’s worth using if [name_f]Violet[/name_f] honours a family member. And anyway, it’s not like the two names will be said together all the time.

i love the two v’s!!

olive violet is adorable, and quite colorful :green_heart::purple_heart:

not only do the v’s kind of blend together, but both olive and violet are colors. so that makes the combo not work imo

I like it! It’s beautiful. I prefer [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f], but [name_f]Olive[/name_f] flows well too.

I think the sound works, but as they’re both word/colour names the name doesn’t feel like a name to me in a way. Also both being two syllable names ending in consonants makes the combo feel a bit choppy.
Have you considered Olive Violetta or Olive Viola?
They do share the same sounds as Violet but as they’re 4 and 3 syllables respectively and both end in an -a, they feels a little lighter when paired with Olive while still keeping the honour name.

While it’s doable this combo doesn’t particularly work for me. In life you rarely say the second name though, so not working perfectly together is not a big issue.

The v end and beginning as well as them both being colours are the 2 problems I see.

[name_f]Livia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

Olivia Violet sounds fine with nn Olive

Or maybe Olive Violette?

I don’t see either Olive or Violet primarily as a color.

Objectively it’s a beautiful combo but I unfortunately find it just about impossible to say. If you were open to switching the names around, [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f] flows a lot better but I understand if you wanted to keep [name_f]Violet[/name_f] in the middle spot.

The V’s definitely run into eachother, but I am of the belief that if you really love a name or a combo, then the flow shouldn’t matter (unless you really want it to flow of course)

For better flow I would suggest Olivia Violet, or Olive “different middle:slight_smile:

[name_f]My[/name_f] honest opinion… both names are (almost) anagrams of each other so if she was dyslexic that might be hard… Also the end of [name_f]Olive[/name_f] flows into the beginning of [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. Also both are colors…so all in all I wish I could be team [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but I am not. Ultimately, it is your call though and each name is beautiful, just not my favorite combo. However, it would be MEMORABLE! (For example I would never name my child a rhyming name but one of my good friend’s first and last name rhymes and I absolutely love it. It’s one of my favorite names to say! Basically I’m saying do what you love! )

Suggestions:

[name_f]Olivet[/name_f] - this name is a direct anagram of [name_f]Violet[/name_f], and sounds like a combo of the two. [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] FIRST MIDDLE [name_f]Violet[/name_f] (basically put another name in between?)

I don’t love [name_f]Olive[/name_f] with a V middle name but if you want to keep [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as a middle these are some names similar in style to [name_f]Olive[/name_f], according to Nameberry:

[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Penelope[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is sweet and usable but it is a little too colourful for me. [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f] maybe?

[name_f]Anya[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

If you’re not sold on [name_f]Olive[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], maybe you could consider one of these names:

[name_f]Odessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]

[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f]
[name_f]Lena[/name_f]

Both names are lovely on their own but I think for me it’s a bit off an odd pairing with both names having strong colour associations. Also I think the ‘v’ sounds run into each other making the name a bit of a tongue twister. I really like @Araminty suggestions of [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] or [name_f]Orla[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. I haven’t looked through all the responses/suggestions but I would like to put forward [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] I think that would be sweet and shares a similar beginning to [name_f]Olive[/name_f]. [name_u]Or[/name_u] alternatively if you want to embrace colour maybe [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Violeta[/name_f]? [name_f]Violeta[/name_f] feels easier to say with [name_f]Olive[/name_f].

I think it’s a beautiful and colourful name !
If your not completely sold maybe

[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
Ollianna

[name_f]Olena[/name_f]
[name_u]Oleander[/name_u]
[name_f]Olea[/name_f]

Some alternatives for [name_f]Violet[/name_f]

[name_f]Violette[/name_f]
[name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
Vione

I think there probably are too many v sounds in this combo, although I love both names separately.

Sometimes I think it’s good to balance out the botanicals too, I love nature names but occasionally when you put two together it can feel a bit overkill. Try combining these two botanical vintage names with other less botanical vintage names, for example:

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Susannah[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Lydia[/name_f]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]

[name_u]Or[/name_u] combine the two names to make a different first name that gives you the best of both worlds:

[name_f]Olivette[/name_f]

I couldn’t get past them both being colors. And like others, get a little tongue toed saying [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] together.

I like [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but if that’s not your name, it’s not your name! How do you feel about [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] for a mn? Maybe do [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]?

It’s very pretty, but whenever I say it it doesn’t quite sound right. I personally prefer [name_f]Violet[/name_f] [name_f]Olive[/name_f].

The two Vs don’t bother me as much as them both being colours.
Maybe [name_f]Olive[/name_f] [name_f]Violetta[/name_f]?
