Olive

For a while, I LOVED the name [name_f]Olive[/name_f] for a girl. Now, I’m having second thoughts. Our #1 choice for a girl is [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], and I think [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] + [name_f]Olive[/name_f] makes a cute sis-set. But, I don’t know if I’m totally sold on [name_f]Olive[/name_f].

Our last name starts with an “O” and ends with an “O” (and is also a major city name), so naming can get a little tricky.

Thoughts on [name_f]Olive[/name_f]? Any other suggestions?

My top choices right now are [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] (girl) and [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] Schaeffer (boy) and my husband’s top are [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (no preference on middle) and [name_m]Gabriel[/name_m] [name_m]Salvatore[/name_m] (so you get a feel for our style).

Thanks!

I think Olive is a lovely name, although I would not use it if your not sure about it. You might regret it in the future. I also think Ruby and Olive is cute as well.
Suggestions-
Opal
Grace
Norah
Willow
Hazel
Haven

[name_f]Olive[/name_f] with an O surname might sound a little comical; I do think it sounds sweet with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], though.

Suggestions would be [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Violet[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Clara[/name_f] & [name_f]Margot[/name_f]

If your surname is what I am thinking it might be, I think [name_f]Olive[/name_f] works with it. I personally feel neutral about the name.

I love the feel of [name_f]Olive[/name_f], but the food association weirdly bothers me. I do think it sounds great with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. If your last name is what I’m thinking of then I think [name_f]Olive[/name_f] sounds great with it, but I personally love slightly alliterative names and I know some people don’t as much.

I second the suggestions of [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_f]Willow[/name_f], and [name_f]Clara[/name_f]. A few more ideas:

[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u]
[name_f]Sadie[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f], nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_u]Piper[/name_u]

I love these suggestions!

[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is one we keep talking about (possibly for a middle), but I don’t love [name_u]Josie[/name_u]. Although, I think [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and [name_u]Joey[/name_u] are cute!

[name_f]Willow[/name_f] and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] give me ALL the feels. [name_u]Love[/name_u] them so much! But I feel like they’re a little sing-songy with our last name ending in -o.

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] are also so great, but we can’t use them (friend/pet names).

What do y’all think of [name_f]Gemma[/name_f]? Is that a little too weird with [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]? Definitely not going for a gemstone theme!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], I’d like to point out that ‘[name_u]Max[/name_u] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]’ is a very popular animated children’s show here in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u].

If the alliteration is too much (I think it might be) then you could try…

[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Liv[/name_f]
[name_f]Alivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Estelle[/name_f]

What about [name_f]Olivet[/name_f] or [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]?

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Olive[/name_f]… The olive branch, a symbol of peace… Beautiful!
