Oliver, Weston, Emmett

[name]Baby[/name] due any day. Down to 3: [name]Oliver[/name], [name]Weston[/name], or [name]Emmett[/name]. I like all 3 and I’m afraid that i will be dissapointed with any that I choose due to leaving out the others! Middle name has already been decided for each (I just don’t want to influence your thoughts on the first name alone!) If you had to pick one, which would you pick and why?
Thanks for your help!

[name]Hi[/name] there. All 3 of these names rotate on and off of my boy name list. I prefer [name]West[/name] to [name]Weston[/name] (I think it is more distinctive) - so [name]Weston[/name] is not my top choice. My friend recently had an [name]Easton[/name] and I know a few Hudsons, Holdens, Harrisons so I think I am moving away from “on”-like endings. I think [name]West[/name] is kind of awesome. Out of [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Emmett[/name] - oh so hard!!! I know more Olivers and to me it is a bit more timeless than [name]Emmett[/name], but to me, [name]Emmett[/name] is strong yet sweet at the same time.

  1. [name]Emmett[/name]
  2. [name]Oliver[/name] (close second)
  3. [name]West[/name], as opposed to [name]Weston[/name]

Good luck! You really cant go wrong!

I’d definitely vote for [name]Emmett[/name]. [name]Emmett[/name] is in my own top 7, and one of only two that’re a bit more ‘traditional’ names in the US (along with [name]Conrad[/name]-- in the mix with [name]Caius[/name], [name]Amias[/name], [name]Darius[/name], Caian and [name]Kian[/name]). It’s got a great meaning. It’s relatively unique, but quite well-known. It feels classic and timeless. It feels like the name of someone that could do anything and be anything. I think it’s a great name. [name]One[/name] of the best.

[name]Oliver[/name] I’ve never been such a fan of. And it seems too overused (#1 in [name]England[/name] and probably only gonna rise in the US- seems to me maybe even a top 10 name within a few more years). And in general I’ve just never been such a fan of the sound of it. I do like the meaning of the name though, since the olive branch is a symbol of peace.

[name]Weston[/name] I really don’t like. [name]Weston[/name] and [name]Easton[/name] both seem trendy to me, and really it feels like a meaningless name. [name]Oliver[/name] and [name]Emmett[/name] both have great meanings, this one means nothing really. And it feels like a last name. [name]Just[/name] not a fan in general.

[name]Oliver[/name] is my favourite of the three, I think it is a wonderful name, and I wish it wasn’t so popular in the UK, however I think that popularity isn’t that much of an issue as you can’t control what other people name their children and for all you know the unusual name may be the name that 2 other families choose and then send their kids to the same school as you pick for your child (a lesson my parents learnt)
My second favourite is [name]Emmett[/name], I like it, but I wouldn’t choose it personally, I just think of Twilight and Legally Blonde. Personally I prefer [name]Everett[/name] (mainly because I think [name]Rhett[/name] is such a cute nn, but that’s just me)
I’m not a fan of [name]Weston[/name], it seems too surnamy.

Despite its popularity I love [name]Oliver[/name]! [name]Emmett[/name] is a close second though. [name]Weston[/name] is not really my style (but fine for someone else). Good luck with whatever you choose!

[name]Man[/name] - those three are hard to put in favorite order. All three were on and fell off my list for frustrating reasons.

1.) [name]Oliver[/name] (off mine because my sister, after hearing my talk about how it was my favorite went and named her dog that… thanks sis)
2.) [name]Weston[/name] (I like the nn [name]Wes[/name] A LOT… sadly my husband works with a real wierdo named [name]Wes[/name]… dang associations)
3.) [name]Emmett[/name] (at the bottom because of Twilight popularity and less masculine nn options)

I’m going to say [name]Weston[/name], but just because I love the nn [name]Wes[/name]. I would steer clear of [name]Oliver[/name] bc it’s so popular and really the -on endings too if possible. And [name]Emmett[/name] just reminds me of [name]Emmitt[/name] [name]Smith[/name], but that’s prob not an issue for anybody outside of the US or even just TX. My personal preference:

  1. [name]Weston[/name] (I’ve only known one and he’s my age and totally awesome, but I’m sure it’s more popular in other areas)
  2. [name]Oliver[/name]
  3. [name]Emmett[/name]

[name]Emmett[/name] is my absolute favourite, it’s known without being overly popular. It has a strong sound and is just a rather handsome choice.

[name]Oliver[/name] sounds so whiny to me, and I guess it’s because I hear the name all the time. It has been number one in the UK and it’s such an overdone choice here. If all the [name]Oliver[/name]'s, [name]Ollie[/name]'s and [name]Olly[/name]'s were added together it would still be the number one boy’s name.

[name]Weston[/name] is the name of a place ([name]Weston[/name]-Super-[name]Mare[/name]) here in the UK so it seems pretty odd to me, although my friend is actually considering it. I think the nickname [name]West[/name] is pretty cool though.

[name]Emmett[/name] is by far my favourite.

They are all really good names but [name]Emmett[/name] is my favourite of the 3 (by far). [name]Love[/name] the name! [name]Oliver[/name] would be second but I think it seems to be much more popular. [name]Weston[/name] is ok. For me, [name]Emmett[/name] is this great name, underused name!
