[name]Hi[/name] all,
My husband and I have decided on the name [name]Oliver[/name] if we have a boy, but we are torn between the middle names [name]William[/name] (for my dad) and [name]Jon[/name] (for his grandpa, who practically raised him). His grandfather passed away 11 years ago, so there would be no hurt feelings if we didn’t go with “[name]Jon[/name]”- however “[name]Jon[/name]” is also my husband’s middle name. My argument is that my father would be thrilled if we honored him in this way, but I also don’t want to be selfish. What should we do??
Of course the personal reasons behind your baby’s name are up to you, but based on the names themselves I much prefer [name]Oliver[/name] [name]William[/name] to [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Jon[/name].
But why not name him [name]Oliver[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Jon[/name] - dilemma over!
Like [name]Araminta[/name] I also prefer [name]Oliver[/name] [name]William[/name] to [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Jon[/name], but together they sound great and solve your dilemma! [name]Oliver[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Jon[/name] is the combination I like best.
I agree… I really like the flow of [name]Oliver[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Jon[/name]. Two mn are fashionable right now, and honors both your families. There is no guarantee that you would have another boy so why not now?
Thanks, everyone! I talked it over with the hubby and we’ve agreed on [name]Oliver[/name] [name]William[/name] [name]Jon[/name]. Thanks so much for your suggestions and encouragement
