Oliver?

I have [name]Oliver[/name] on my list but I’m not so sure about it anymore and would like some help with a couple of questions.

[name]Do[/name] you like [name]Oliver[/name]?
What do you think of when you hear the name [name]Oliver[/name]?
What do think an [name]Oliver[/name] would look/be like?
Would you use it?
[name]How[/name] many Olivers’ do you know?

You don’t have to answer ever question but I would prefer all the help I can get.
Thanks in advance.

I love the name [name]Oliver[/name]! I have never met one ,ever. I wish my hubby liked it too, but not his thing.

I adore the name [name]Oliver[/name]! I think it is fabulous on so many levels. I definitely think British, and I’m a huge lover of all things British. So I would definitely use it. My education in the literary classics is sadly lacking (something I am trying to remedy) but I do think of [name]Oliver[/name] Twist. I’m not sure if that would be a good or bad association though since I have never read the book. I know only one [name]Oliver[/name] nn [name]Ollie[/name]. [name]Love[/name] the nickname too!

I love it. We’re considering it if our baby is a boy. I like it because it makes me think of Dickens/[name]Oliver[/name] Twist (one of my favorite books) and Victorian [name]London[/name]. And it just has a British feel to it in general, which I love. I would think of a boy named [name]Oliver[/name] to be smart and creative (or maybe that’s just wishful thinking!).

I think now it’s our top choice for a boy, but I’m not 100% set on it. I worry it’s becoming too popular - that’s my main hesitation, I think. I’ve only heard one or two moms calling their little boys [name]Oliver[/name] (in NYC), so I don’t feel it’s ubiquitous at this point; but I do think it’s climbing the popularity charts.

It’s a great name, though!! And I think [name]Ollie[/name] is an adorable nickname.

I do like [name]Oliver[/name]. It’s a lovely name and so flexible- I think it works well on any boy or man of any age, so I can’t picture just one type of person. But my main issue with it is the popularity. I had at least 5 Olivers in my year (born 20 odd years ago) and its popularity has sustained since then. I believe it has been the #1 boy name in [name]England[/name] & [name]Wales[/name] in recent years and it’s at #2 now  I can’t say how popular it is in [name]Scotland[/name] but I’d bet it’s similar. Because I’ve known so many and it seems so popular, I wouldn’t use it. But if popularity doesn’t worry you, then keep it! [name]Oliver[/name] is such a handsome name

Thank you for all who have answered so far. I have just looked up the popularity of [name]Oliver[/name] in [name]Scotland[/name] I found that it was 10th in [name]December[/name] of 2012 but popularity isn’t an issue for me. If I like a name I will add it to my list. I’m still not 100% sure about it but with such lovely feedback it’s defiantly growing on me.

I like it. It makes me think of a hot frenchman lol, but still imo it’s a cool name.

I like [name]Oliver[/name]. I don’t think I know any Olivers though I know a [name]Ollie[/name] (which might actually be an [name]Oliver[/name]). I think it’s the type of name that can work on a guy of any any age and any personality, which means that I don’t have an image of what an [name]Oliver[/name] would look like. I’m glad to see that the popularity doesn’t bother you, it’s such a handsome name.

[name]Love[/name] it but I have a son named [name]Oliver[/name], so I’m obviously biased! While I do hear of other [name]Oliver[/name]'s sometimes at the playground, bday parties etc, we don’t personally know any others. Until recently he has mostly gone by [name]Ollie[/name] but now that he’s almost 5 and in school it’s probably about 50/50. We have always received great feedback about his name!

Thank you everyone. [name]Oliver[/name] [name]Jude[/name] has earned it’s place on my list. [name]Both[/name] names have meaning to them and it think they flow well together.

I don’t know any Olivers.
When I think of the name [name]Oliver[/name], my mind jumps to [name]Oliver[/name] Twist, which isn’t really a bad association. It’s a lovely musical as well, and I’m a fan of the Disney adaptation.
I don’t really have any notions of what an [name]Oliver[/name] would look like, other than I have trouble picturing a bullying child having the name [name]Oliver[/name]. It just sounds a little too sweet and peaceful for that.
I adore the name. I would absolutely use it- it’s on my list of possibilities., and rather high up on it as well.

Thank you kayso for the lovely feedback! Much appreciated.

[name]Oliver[/name] [name]Jude[/name] is a lovely combination!

[name]One[/name] of my sons is [name]Oliver[/name]. Popularity does bother me a bit, but we chose it to honor my grandfather so I had particular reasons to go for something so popular and I haven’t regretted it at all. We live in [name]Sweden[/name] where [name]Oliver[/name] was number 6 in 2011 when he was born, but have yet to actually know any other children with his name. It has come up in passing but no one at his school or who we have any contact with has an [name]Oliver[/name].

He goes by [name]Oliver[/name] (or Ollava if his brother is pronouncing it) and never [name]Ollie[/name].

I like [name]Oliver[/name] but unfortunately, hubby doesn’t. I hope he’ll come around some day! We don’t personally know any Olivers.

Popularity isn’t an issue for me. [name]Oliver[/name] is number 10 in [name]Scotland[/name] at the moment but I won’t be having any children for a long time. I’m just collecting some names at the moment. I love your twins’ names. Ollava is a cute pronouncation! I love the ways kids pronounce certain words.

It’s one of my favorite names ever. I don’t have a specific image of [name]Oliver[/name] in mind. I think it’s very usable and it also ages well.

We were considering [name]Oliver[/name] for one of our twins but decided against it at the last minute. We might use it for another boy though.
