[name]Hi[/name] everyone! First time posting here. We pretty much have agreed on the name [name]Lucy[/name] for our baby girl due this month. What do you think of the name? [name]One[/name] concern is that we have dd named [name]Olivia[/name] (who often goes by [name]Liv[/name] and [name]Livy[/name]). Too close for a sibset?
Other concerns…
Too informal?
Age well?
Becoming too popular?
[name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are perfect together, but [name]Livy[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] aren’t. Maybe start calling [name]Olivia[/name] ‘[name]Ollie[/name]’ or something? An occasional [name]Liv[/name] would probably be fine.
Nooo I think they are perfect names together.
They are of the same genre and match so nicely.
I think “[name]Liv[/name]” and [name]Lucy[/name] has lovely alliteration.
And [name]Lucy[/name] may get shortened to “[name]Luce[/name]”, so “[name]Livvy[/name] and [name]Luce[/name]” also works with rhythm and alliteration.
We have an [name]Olivia[/name], and currently due with 3rd girl who I would [name]LOVE[/name] to call [name]Lucy[/name]… unfortunately hubbie had a dog called [name]Lucy[/name] so has ruled it out. Annoying!
I like [name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] together but do not like [name]Livy[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name]. That is a little to close for me. But if it does not bother you and your partner then go for it. Or maybe use the nn [name]Olive[/name] instead of [name]Liv[/name]/[name]Livy[/name]. [name]Olive[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] sound adorable. As for the name I can picture it on a baby, little girl and adult. I think it ages very well.
[name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are lovely together. I wouldn’t worry about the similarity of names unless [name]Olivia[/name] is always called [name]Livy[/name].
I agree with some of the others–[name]Olivia[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are fine (quite cute, in fact), but [name]Livy[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] are probably too close. Maybe [name]Livy[/name] and [name]Lou[/name]/[name]Livy[/name] and [name]Lulu[/name]? I think if they weren’t always [name]Livy[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name], it would help.
I think they sound great together. As for popularity, [name]Olivia[/name] is very popular already and I think [name]Lucy[/name] is an adorable, fairly popular name that makes for a beautiful subset. If you went with a less popular/obscure name, they might not fit as well, though you could always use [name]Lucinda[/name], [name]Luciana[/name], [name]Lula[/name], [name]Tallulah[/name], [name]Larissa[/name] to get to [name]Lucy[/name] as a nickname. I think [name]Larissa[/name] or [name]Luciana[/name] would also sound beautiful with [name]Olivia[/name], though both are less popular.
Also, little [name]Livy[/name] will probably want to be called by another name when she’s older ([name]Olivia[/name], [name]Olive[/name], [name]Ollie[/name], [name]Livia[/name], [name]Liv[/name], etc) so the similarities between [name]Lucy[/name] and [name]Livy[/name] might be obsolete in a few years (especially if [name]Lucy[/name] is used as a nickname for a more formal name, and wants to go by her full name as well)
