Our baby girl is due next month and we’ve decided on the name [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. We love it for so many reasons – from the meaning and associations to the sweet nickname [name_f]Oly[/name_f] for a girl.
We had decided on [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] (little heavenly warrior), but I think I’m getting last minute jitters, so I’ve been considering other options.
Other middles we love:
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Noémi[/name_f] (heavenly + pleasant) – there’s something so appealing about the sound and look of this combo, but I worry about pronunciation issues down the line
[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] Zoē (heavenly life) – I love Zoē, but I’m not sure if it feels special enough
I’d love to know which is your favourite and why. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to suggest other options, too.
These are stunning, thank you, @EloiseT! (And thank you for reaffirming my love for [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] Marceline!) Her surname will be two syllables – I didn’t think about that re: [name_f]Zoë[/name_f], and it makes me want to use it even less. (Even though I love the name.)
These are all very pretty names, with good meanings. You won’t go wrong, whatever you choose. [name_f]My[/name_f] personal favorite is [name_f]Noémi[/name_f].
Re last names, I should say I was largely talking visually and with a one syllable name. I do think two syllables could work with [name_u]Zoe[/name_u], it just depends on starting letter, vowels and pace. Eg (and using mix of [name_f]English[/name_f] and [name_u]French[/name_u] last names) to me [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] [name_u]Campbell[/name_u] sounds gorgeous to me but [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] [name_m]Richard[/name_m] (the [name_u]French[/name_u] Richard) works. Again, yes to [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] [name_m]Rogers[/name_m], but maybe [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] [name_m]Laurent[/name_m]. I still think [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] is the more luxurious and romantic name and the top choice on bakance, but just to say that two syllable last, can work with [name_u]Zoe[/name_u] if you want the more zippy and youthful option. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] that doesn’t make things harder again, just my extra thoughts!
[name_m]Ah[/name_m], I see what you mean! Our surname is [name_f]English[/name_f] and two syllables. I think it could work with [name_f]Zoë[/name_f], but I love the rhythm of 4-3-2 syllables in [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] ______. Thank you for this thoughtful response!
Thank you for weighing in! [name_f]Noémi[/name_f] has always struck me as such a gentle, sophisticated name. [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Joy[/name_f] is so energetic and sweet.
Thank you, berries! I think I will, in the end, stick with our favourite name: [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f]. I love the meaning, rhythm and sound. I really appreciate everyone’s encouragement. Seems I just needed a little reassurance! Sending all of you love from our little family.
I really think [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] [name_f]Marceline[/name_f] is beautiful! I don’t have any suggestions prettier! The meaning of it is lovely too!
