Olympia for a girl? Middle name suggestions

Hello,
I love this name - [name]Olympia[/name] - and so does my husband. This is our first, due [name]January[/name] 10, 2014.
<3
What do you think of this name? In the US, it is very uncommon but not weird.
What middle names do you like with Olympia?

I love this name! It’s just so pretty and adorable!
For combos I love
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Athena[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Alice[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Lark[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Wren[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Echo[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]

[name]Alice[/name] is my grandma’s name. Definitely a possibility. I like [name]Wren[/name] as a middle with our last name, too.
Thank you for all of the suggestions, and glad you like it too

I like it. The similarity to [name]Olivia[/name] makes it more wearable than you might think. I like the idea of something more common in the middle spot to “ground” it. [name]Olympia[/name] [name]Alice[/name] and [name]Olympia[/name] [name]Wren[/name] would both be good choices.

There’s a beautiful painting called [name]Olympia[/name] (by [name]Edouard[/name] [name]Manet[/name]) which is my favorite painting in the entire world, so of course I love the name. Only wish I had your guts and was willing to use it!

I hate to be the only negative voice here but I think its just too much name. Its very clunky, which isn’t a bad thing, but its the kind of name I imagine on an exuberant boisterous little girl who loves being the centre of attention. [name]Olympia[/name] on a timid little book worm? Sorry, I just don’t see it.

Anyway, middle names.

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Sophie[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Iris[/name]

Beautiful painting - I just googled it - thank you, Greyer!
My only negative on this name, echoing pinkballerina, is that I do think it’s a little bit long. I hate the name “[name]Pia[/name]” which some people use to shorten. Well, I have 8 more months to think about it;) I still think I wanna go with it.

I like it, it has really grown on me!

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Alice[/name] is nice.

I also like:

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Elise[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Claire[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] (cool initials ;))
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Shea[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Corinne[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Paz[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Irene[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Yasmin[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Wynne[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Onyx[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Vivian[/name]

[name]Olympia[/name] is on my list!!

For me, it’s such a strong name that I would pair it with something softer & sweeter & maybe simple

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Fay[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Camille[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Eleanore[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Patrice[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Rose[/name]

I would steer clear of anything that feels Grecian or sporty.

I really like it!!! what about [name]Ollie[/name] as a nn? kinda tomboyish and cute [name]IMO[/name]

[name]Olympia[/name] Zenith

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Fleur[/name]

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]May[/name]

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]June[/name]

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Violet[/name] (oooh i think this is my favorite combo)

seazuno, haha on the cool initials for a ‘Q’ middle name.
I agree, taz, about not overdoing it with a Grecian or sporty middle name. ha!
I like all the suggestions. I think [name]Rose[/name] also is nice, along with [name]Alice[/name]. [name]Helen[/name] is another possibility as it is my mother in law’s name. She is from Greece and I’m hoping she will love our choice of [name]Olympia[/name]! We have not told them yet. Waiting till my ultrasound.

Also, it could be a boy. Forgot to mention.

I get two images with this name. [name]One[/name] is my 80 year old Mexican grandmother. And the other is the state capital. It just doesn’t feel fresh enough for use in my opinion. I don’t know what it is about it… that’s just me though.
Though I will admit the nn [name]Ollie[/name] is pretty damn adorable.

[name]Alice[/name], [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Claire[/name] are definitely my favorites of the middle name choices. They make for the best flow.

Sorry for any repeats:

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Olympia[/name]

It’s a very strong name, but I would only use it if I or my husband were of Greek origin.

[name]Olympia[/name] is stunning, gorgeous and dramatic. It’s a very strong name with loads of history, a great thing as far as I’m concerned!

I love [name]Olympia[/name]. Greek but graceful, not guttural. A great name for a girl. I see mountains and bright blue skies.
[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is magical. I know that [name]Rose[/name] is fairly common as a middle name, but it really softens [name]Olympia[/name] without weakening it… The echoed O-sound is lovely. Roses are flowers that powerfully embrace you with their fragrance. They’re not wimpy flowers. [name]Olympia[/name] really amplifies that passionate rosiness.

[name]Olympia[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is good too. Strong and clear - good qualities in a person.

Why not? Especialy if you or DH is Greek. I’d just suggest keeping the middle name clean and simple: [name]Rose[/name], [name]June[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Helen[/name], [name]Alice[/name] are all great choices.

I have an [name]Olympia[/name]. [name]Olympia[/name] [name]Ray[/name]. She was named for my husband’s grandmother’s Greek Heritage and my grandfather’s first name. She is 9 and has never had anyone shorten her name. I will say she is a little shy, so when people mispronounce her name to [name]Olivia[/name], she gets upset but rarely corrects them. I love the name [name]Olympia[/name] and we get a lot of compliments on it. Her little brother pronounced it “Ympia” for a long time, but that the only nickname she’s had.
