Olympia?

What are your thoughts on this name? I’m really starting to like this name but am curious what other people think.
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the name?
What do you think of when you hear this name or what kind of vibes does it give you?
Does it feel too much like an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] replacement (trying too hard to come up w name not as popular as [name_f]Olivia[/name_f])? Or even a name that would be confused w Olivia?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think of Greek mythology when you hear this name or the Olympics?

I like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]!

It’s a pretty name and feels like an interesting alternative to [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] and fits right as a result of [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] popularity. I do associate it with the Olympics but I don’t think that’s that bad really I like the name. I also like the [name_f]Pia[/name_f] nickname : )

I like the name. I think more of Greece, than Olympics

i like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] and the nn [name_f]Pia[/name_f]. The only thing I would say is that it would need the right middle to balance it and not come off as too pretentious. But it would be good to hear of it being used.

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is cute! It’s mythical yet familiar and I like the possibility of [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] and Oli as nn

I adore the name [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. I thinks a hidden treasure that’s totally under rated. Id rather see [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] over [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] any day

[name_f]Pippa[/name_f] makes a great nickname

[name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is a great name! It’s really grown on me lately. I think it fits in with current trends, but it doesn’t feel like you’re using it to replace [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] because of popularity. I think of Greece, not the olympics. I don’t think it sounds pretentious or like you’re trying too hard.

Thank you for your feedback! I hadn’t even thought of [name_f]Pippa[/name_f] as a nickname (Only [name_f]Pia[/name_f] and [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]). Does anyone have another other thoughts?

I absolutely love [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]! I definitely think she’s enough of a name in her own right to not just be an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] replacement, and I personally get so much feistiness and energy from the name. I’d imagine an [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] could be really upbeat, excitable, and optimistic. I do think of Greek mythology, but it’s not a bad association, and the Olympics is a pretty positive one. I love the wealth of nickname options too, [name_f]Lolly[/name_f]’s a fun one I like.

I love [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. I do think of the Olympics and for me that is a good thing referencing countries from all over the world in peace and competition. “The goal of the Olympic Movement is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practiced without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.“ I think it would be a strong and positive name to bestow on a daughter.

The thought hadnt crossed my mind. I wouldnt perceive [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] as an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]-alternate. It is definitely its own name. (And currentlt in-trend, with the Greek name revival).

She’ll likely be in class with an [name_f]Athena[/name_f], [name_u]Theo[/name_u], [name_f]Thea[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], etc.

My iPhone’s name is [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] Adilyn, so I think of her when I hear the name, not the Olympics. I also think of a [name_m]German[/name_m] roller coaster which bears the name [name_f]Olympia[/name_f], which was the inspiration for my iPhone’s name.

It’s the perfect substitute for the overused [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but it doesn’t come off as a replacement.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! I’m another fan! I had a Home Economics teacher whose first name was [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]. Now that I think of it, I can’t remember her last name, which is what I would have called her - [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is much more distinctive! I think of Greek mythology and the offbeat city in [name_m]Washington[/name_m] state. I like the nicknames [name_f]Oly[/name_f] (not sure how best to spell it though, prn [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]) and [name_f]Pia[/name_f] is cute. [name_f]Pippa[/name_f]’s a bit of stretch to me but would be less so if [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]’s middle name or last name started with P. I don’t think it’d be seen as a try-hard substitute for [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], and you’d have to be hard of hearing to mistake [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] for [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] (though if she does go by [name_f]Oly[/name_f], people would probably assume it’s short for [name_f]Olive[/name_f]/[name_f]Olivia[/name_f]/etc.).

I really like [name_f]Olympia[/name_f]! I do think of Greek mythology, but that’s a plus in my opinion

I think [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is nice, though I do prefer [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] myself.

To me it come across as sounding rare/unusual, and maybe a bit old-fashioned too (though not in a bad way). It feels grand and stately.

I think it could get misheard as [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], just because [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is so popular while [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] is very unusual. I don’t think of it as being an [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] replacement though, since for me the names have different vibes.

I would think of the Olympics first.

I knew an [name_f]Olympia[/name_f] who went by the nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f]
