The Olympics have been on all day at my house. I just realized how it’s a great source of names, from countries all over the world. I love it! [name]Feel[/name] free to share names you’ve noticed on the Olympics in this thread.
I just saw [name]Ilaria[/name] from [name]Italy[/name] swim…I love that name.
Ha, I was noticing that last night when they all marched with their flags! I don’t remember most of the names, but I do remember hearing [name]Winston[/name] and [name]Valentina[/name], and loving those.
I posted this in another thread too, but there’s a player on the U.S. women’s volleyball team named [name]Destinee[/name] [name]Hooker[/name]. The whole time I was watching the game, I kept thinking of the response someone would have received if they had posted on NB that they were naming their daughter [name]Destinee[/name] [name]Hooker[/name]. And yet, she managed to become a star volleyball player in the Olympics. Maybe names aren’t as important as we like to think on here.
There’s a Canadian marathoner named [name]Reid[/name]
A [name]German[/name] rower named [name]Carina[/name]

And a Czech tennis player named [name]Klara[/name]
I’ve been reading the results in the newspapers and I came across two Mongolian names: Jantsan (male) and Bishindee (female). I thought they were quite interesting.
It seems that most of the names of Olympians are quite classic or were very popular at the time of the person’s birth -at least for the athletes from English speaking countries! Which is good -because the announcers are able to pronounce their names properly.
There are several Jennifers, Rebeccas, Allisons, [name]Laurens[/name]. etc.

I know the Olympics are long over, but I just found this post. I figured I’d go ahead and contribute some names that I liked or thought were interesting from Team USA.
