OMG. ‘The name.’

I know I made a post leas than five minutes ago about [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], but scratch that! :joy:

I just came across [name_f]Ariya[/name_f]. LOVE it. 100% everything I want in a name. The meaning ESPECIALLY. WDYT?

ETA before anyone posts: Not a variant of Aria. It’s pronounced ah-ry-uh & means ray of hope.

I think it’s pretty, and that’s a lovely meaning. However, I’ve only ever seen this pronounced like [name_f]Aria[/name_f], so I fear it might get confusing. That’s not a reason not to use it-- it should be an easy correction – but it is something to keep in mind.

I also love how similar it sounds to [name_f]Moriah[/name_f], as in my idol, [name_f]Moriah[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]! <3

(Okay deleted and commenting again because I see how it’s pronounced now), first glance in all honesty I’d think it was [name_f]Aria[/name_f] but spelled differently, but it definitely could also be [name_f]Ariya[/name_f] (the pronunciation you’re going for). I think it’s a beautiful name and I especially love the meaning. I think you’ll be having to correct people but even the most common names people can’t get right. I don’t know if there’s a different way to spell it? [name_f]Araya[/name_f] looks like A [name_u]Ray[/name_u] A, Araia maybe would work? I think [name_f]Ariya[/name_f] looks best written out but does look like [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. Someone from my high school was [name_u]Arya[/name_u]- AH-RYE-UH and she had to correct people as well because people thought it was [name_f]Aria[/name_f], but I think that’s a pretty way to spell it.

Ariya is pretty! I know a little girl called Aariyah pronounced the way you like [name_f]Ariya[/name_f], and it’s sweet. Very strong. I think I prefer [name_f]Mariah[/name_f]/Moriah, but [name_f]Ariya[/name_f] is on trend & has all of those well-loved name components!

I think [name_f]Ariya[/name_f] is sweet! I don’t think people would pronounce it correctly though because it looks like a variation of [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. I’m not sure how to spell it though because [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is so common that anything resembling it will probably be assumed to be an alternative spelling of [name_f]Aria[/name_f].

I feel like the pronunciation is confusing, but if it’s the one then it’s the one!

I would also assume it’s pronounced like [name_f]Aria[/name_f], but it’s nice.

I think most ppl will assume its a mispelled version of [name_f]Aria[/name_f] trying to be trendy, unfortunately :frowning:

If someone told me that it wasn’t pronounced [name_f]Aria[/name_f] [as in the musical terminology] and told me to guess again, I would assume [name_f]Ariya[/name_f] = uh-REE-yuh [like urea, eureka, etc]. This is because [name_f]Riya[/name_f] = ree-yuh.

If you are going for uh-RYE-uh… Maybe [name_f]Ariah[/name_f]? Like [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] [name_u]Carey[/name_u]?

Ariya is cute, I know a little girl with this name  And an [name_f]Ariyah[/name_f], same pronunciation. It does look like a variation of [name_f]Aria[/name_f], but it’s an easy enough correction to make and would likely stick once it’s corrected. [name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is a bit like this, and after I correct the pronunciation, people tend to get it right.

I do think it might be confused with [name_f]Aria[/name_f] but it’s easy to correct. A lovely name with a great meaning

Oh wow I didn’t know that pronunciation was a real name! I invented the name Arriah which used that pronunciation (I explain it as [name_f]Mariah[/name_f] without the M). This is great to know!
