On a girl?

All of the names I love are very feminine or masculine…[name]Malachi[/name], [name]Isla[/name], [name]Ronan[/name], [name]Finley[/name], etc. But for some reason I love this on a girl…

Graison.

What do you think? I think the “i” makes it look softer. I realize most “-son” names are masculine. But is it as much of a gender bender as some others?

I have mixed feelings on it. I love [name]Noah[/name], [name]Spencer[/name] and [name]Riley[/name] on a girl as well.

Well. I find the name’s sound and appearance to be pleasing. However, it could come across as a made up name. I’m not sure if that’s a problem or not. I’m also not sure that people will be 100% sure how to pronounce it, but that happens with lots of names anyway. If you spell it this way, I don’t really see it as a gender bender at all. It’s a different name with the same pronunciation. I think it’s mostly a question of whether or not you’re okay with the spelling. I say add it to the list. The more I think about it the more I like it. Graison. It’s quite pretty. I quite like it!

I don’t mind boys names on girls at all. But something about this spelling I don’t quite like. I it almost reminds me of the sound raisin makes, more with a z. I would either still go with [name]Grayson[/name], or go for [name]Gracen[/name] or something to feminize the spelling.

I’m thinking Graison/[name]Gracen[/name] vs. [name]Grayson[/name] is kind of like [name]Aaron[/name] and [name]Erin[/name]. Same name, but not…all depends on the spelling. I’ve never heard it [name]Gray[/name]-SUHN, I’ve always said it [name]Gray[/name]-sehn (running together more) which is more feminine to me!

Graison with an i looks made-up, which makes me dislike it visually. I personally dislike -son names for girls because it literally has a synonym for male in the name. I think there are plenty of masculine names for girls without having to put a name that means “son of ___” on a girl. I don’t think this one is an exception. If there was, it’d probably be something like [name]Emerson[/name] that has a very feminine sound (as boys’ names go). [name]Grey[/name], [name]Gray[/name], Grai etc. all sound very cold and masculine to me.

Graison just looks trendy and wrong. It doesn’t look any more feminine than [name]Grayson[/name] does. If you feel the need to use the name, spell it [name]Grayson[/name] or [name]Gracen[/name]. Please.

I like the sound of this name and think it could be really cute in a girl. I’m not wild about that “i” in there though. I definitely like the suggestion of [name]Gracen[/name]. The base part “[name]Grace[/name]” in there makes it more feminine with the same sound to it, and no pronunciation confusion.

I only see boy and personally I am starting to laothe this name. Almost every new baby I meet is a [name]Gray[/name]/[name]Grayson[/name]/[name]Greyson[/name]/[name]Gracen[/name] etc… it’s like no one is original anymore. My cousin even has a [name]Grayson[/name]!

It made me want to pronounce it ‘[name]Gray[/name]-zon’…looks too much like the French word ‘raison.’

I really dislike that spelling. [name]Gracen[/name] or even Gracyn with an annoying trendy Y are better.

I agree it would work with a more feminine spelling. What about Graceyn - combo of [name]Grace[/name] and [name]Lynn[/name]?

I had the same reaction. I’d just go with [name]Grayson[/name], [name]Graysen[/name], or [name]Gracen[/name]. Actually I’d much prefer just [name]Grey[/name].

Really?! I know one little boy with the name [name]Grayson[/name] so to me it’s not super popular. Interesting. He is the child of my mom’s good friend and he lives far away from me. I just think that the “[name]Grace[/name]” sounding part is pretty feminine sounding.

Yeah, I’ve personally met 2 (both under 1) and have heard of at least 5 if not more (various websites/blogs - all babies). It all started thanks to the 50 Shades of Gray fandom. Not to mention the many people who use it in the middle spot…

Grayson is number 85 on the SSA Popular Baby names of 2012 list and is bound to go up this year.
Greyson is number 175

Also for pn what I know it’s pn Gray-son (Pronunciation of Grayson : How to pronounce Grayson), not Grace-on. Hence why it sounds more boyish. If you like the sound Grace? Why not just Grace?

I guess if you had to use the name, Gracen would be best to get the pn you want, to me Graison = Gry (rhymes with dry)-son

I really really think “son” is a dead giveaway to only use on a boy. Sorry, I don’t like it at all. Maybe [name]Gracen[/name] could work if you must.

I think it’s actually very pretty

Whenever I hear the name [name]Grayson/name it always takes me a minute to realise it isn’t [name]Gracen/name so I actually consider it a girly name. I think it is fine on a girl but I don’t like the Graison spelling. I think it kind of looks odd and it will have to constantly be corrected. I would go with either [name]Grayson[/name] or [name]Gracen[/name].

I actually don’t know any boys named [name]Grayson[/name], but I know two girls named [name]Gracen[/name] and Gracyn. It’s not my favorite, as I do tend to agree on the “son” endings for girls, but if girls can be [name]Madison[/name] and [name]Addison[/name] and [name]Emerson[/name] and [name]Ellison[/name], then why not [name]Grayson[/name]?

I think you could spell it [name]Gracen[/name] and it would be acceptable. The nn [name]Grace[/name] is cute.
