On a mission...

On a mission to find a name to honor my mother! Her name is [name]Ann[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]. While I think [name]Ann[/name] is a simple but beautiful name my husband and I have a more classic quirky taste in names. Examples our top picks right now:

[name]Frances[/name] [name]Ann[/name] nn [name]Fritzi[/name]
[name]Lucille[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]

[name]Edward[/name] [name]Charles[/name]/McBride nn [name]Ward[/name]
[name]Byron[/name] [name]Charles[/name]
[name]Conrad[/name] [name]James[/name]

We have a daughter named [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (both family names). [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Ann[/name] is my name and will not work. Any variation of [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a first name is a no. I would prefer a A E combination. I had always intended to name my daughter [name]Ava[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] but [name]Ava[/name] is way too popular now. I know my top 3 girl names do honor my mothers name in one way or another but I want it to be more direct! :). If we want with [name]Ann[/name] as a first I wouldn’t need an E middle name but it would have to quirky and cute (I can’t seem to find the right fit). I have considered [name]Ada[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and Annabeth (can’t think of middle name). Anything ending in [name]EL[/name] doesn’t work with our last name. OK! Get after it!

What about [name]Annalise[/name]? It has a cute nickname ([name]Annie[/name] or even [name]Ann[/name]) and incorporates both [name]Ann[/name] and the elis- sound from [name]Elizabeth[/name].

Good luck!

[name]How[/name] about a first name that starts with [name]Ann[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name] as a mn:

[name]Annalise[/name] is gorgeous! I really like that suggestion.
I also really like [name]Iris[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] for a girl. Thats beautiful!

Have you considered :

E middle names :

I love the idea of [name]Fritzi[/name] as a nn for [name]Frances[/name]; I’d never thought of that before!

Good luck!

[name]Analiese[/name] just doesn’t get me going. I wish it did because it is pretty perfect! I have not ruled it out. I have also considered just [name]Ann[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] but my husband thinks it’s plain. He loves [name]Fritzi[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name]. I adore [name]Annabelle[/name] but doesn’t work with our last name. [name]Annika[/name] is a possibility do you think it works with [name]Emery[/name]? What about [name]Adelia[/name] nn [name]Ada[/name]?

love [name]Annika[/name] with [name]Emery[/name]!

I think [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] are great! I really like [name]Annika[/name]- its spunky, different but not too out there, and really pretty all at once

I think [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] go perfectly together. [name]Both[/name] are spunky, feminine and bold. But, if you go with [name]Annika[/name], I believe a softer name in the middle (i.e. [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name]) would be nice. [name]How[/name] do you feel about the ultra popular mn [name]Rose[/name]? I think [name]Annika[/name] [name]Rose[/name] sounds very lovely.

You know how I feel about [name]Frances[/name] [name]Ann[/name] nn [name]Fritzi[/name]. It’s my all time favourite and I think it’s both classic and quirky enough to go with [name]Emery[/name]. I think it honors your grandmother perfectly! This gets my vote.

What about just [name]Ann[/name] and call her [name]Annie[/name]? It’s a classic, in my opinion.

I also really love [name]Iris[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]… but don’t know how I feel about [name]Emery[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]. [name]Say[/name] it a few times out loud - it’s kind of a tounge twister.

I think [name]Lucy[/name] is cute, but it’s so popular, if that bothers you.

What other family names do you have to go with [name]Ann[/name] and [name]Elizabeth[/name]?

[name]Hope[/name] Miss [name]Emery[/name] is doing well!

My love for [name]Fritzi[/name] is beyond any other name! Haha I should just give in to it’s adorableness and not try to sway myself. [name]Frances[/name] is also a family name so should their be another daughter [name]Frances[/name] [name]Ann[/name] has just as much meaning as [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name]. My mother also loves [name]Frances[/name] [name]Ann[/name] and thinks it’s a great way to honor her. [name]Annika[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is adorable! adding [name]Rose[/name] actually makes me like [name]Annika[/name] a lot more.
Other family names

Shoot I posted but I don’t know what happened.

I also Like [name]Annika[/name] and [name]Angeline[/name] that have been suggested. [name]Anastasia[/name] is also cute and could nn [name]Stacy[/name], it has [name]Lucy[/name] feel to me.

[name]Annora[/name] - Means honor. [name]How[/name] about [name]Annora[/name] [name]Elyse[/name] or [name]Annora[/name] [name]Elise[/name]?

Names ending with [name]Ann[/name]

[name]Ellisan[/name] - Like [name]Allison[/name]

OK, Zard, you have some great names to work with.

What about:

[name]Margaret[/name] [name]Ann[/name] - nn [name]Margo[/name]. I think [name]Margo[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] sounds very cute. Not everyone is a fan of [name]Margaret[/name] or [name]Margo[/name], though.

I love [name]Mae[/name], but I don’t know how you could incorporate [name]Ann[/name] to honor your mother. [name]Mae[/name] [name]Ann[/name] doesn’t sound well together, unless you made it one name i.e. Maeanne… don’t know how I feel about that, or if it looks real or made up.

[name]Annika[/name] [name]Ruth[/name] - This is pretty, but I think I like [name]Annika[/name] [name]Rose[/name] better.

[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Ann[/name] - nn [name]Kitty[/name]. I saw this on a recent post… I think her’s was [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Eliza[/name] and I just think the nn [name]Kitty[/name] is incredible. Totally quirky and classic to go with [name]Emery[/name]. Not sure if the “ie/y” ending of both names would bother you, though.

I actually really like [name]Ruth[/name] on its own, and think nn [name]Ruthie[/name] is very cute.

Sorry, but [name]Fritzi[/name] is still my favourite!

[name]Carter[/name] I think [name]Fritzie[/name] is it! Abort mission! abort mission! But [name]Annika[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is a great option!

I think your [name]Frances[/name]/[name]Fritzi[/name]/[name]Fritzie[/name] idea is great! Oh! Wow! I just said it with your last name, and I [name]LOVE[/name] it!

I love [name]Annika[/name], too…

Take care!

What a shame that you won’t use [name]Ava[/name] this is my favourite name. I love it so much even its popularity doesn’t faze me.

I find the pronunciation of [name]Frances[/name] a problem do you say it with a short or long A sound. I like the long A sound, but you may feel it sounds a bit posh.

If you didn’t have [name]Emery[/name] I would suggest [name]Francesca[/name] but it is too frilly for your taste.

[name]Emery[/name] and [name]Frances[/name] do work well together. I am also happy to see [name]Ann[/name] being used it is such a soft, feminine name.

If it were me I would dress [name]Anne[/name] up a little and make her [name]Anna[/name].

[name]Anna[/name] [name]Frances[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Hope[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Bridget[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Harmony[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Paige[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Lucy[/name]

I know a [name]Lucy[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] and it suits her bright, friendly personality.
My sister’s mn is [name]Lucille[/name] after [name]Lucille[/name] Ball but it is not a name that I really love although a combo that I really like [name]Lucille[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is very pretty.

In short [name]Lucy[/name] is a great name much more fun than [name]Lucille[/name]. nn for [name]Lucy[/name] is [name]Lulu[/name]

[name]Frances[/name] [name]Lucy[/name] is another suggestion and the nn’s of either [name]Fritzi[/name] or [name]Lulu[/name] are very cute!

I nearly forgot the boy’s

I think that [name]Byron[/name] works best with [name]Emery[/name]. I love, love [name]Charles[/name] so [name]Byron[/name] [name]Charles[/name] is the one.

I also think that [name]Conrad[/name] [name]James[/name] makes a handsome name for [name]Emery[/name]'s brother.

[name]Edward[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] doesn’t ring bells for me I find [name]Edward[/name] too plain for [name]Emery[/name], even though [name]Ward[/name] and [name]Emery[/name] work well, but I feel that you need to like the first name in full rather than just the nn.

I love [name]Anna[/name]. And [name]Elspeth[/name] is a cool variation of [name]Elizabeth[/name].

[name]Anna[/name] [name]Elspeth[/name]
[name]Anna[/name] [name]Eliza[/name]

Thank you all for the feedback!

[name]Jill[/name], I am glad you think [name]Frances[/name] works well with our last name!

What do you all think of [name]Annette[/name]? Too dated? I think it is pretty. [name]Annika[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is very pretty but [name]Annette[/name] has more of a traditional feel [name]IMO[/name]. The more I see it the more I like it. Hmmmm

[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Annette[/name]. I think [name]Annette[/name] [name]Mae[/name] is just lovely. I don’t know how I feel about it with [name]Emery[/name], though. [name]Annette[/name] is surely classic (not dated, [name]IMO[/name]), and the flow is good, but I don’t know if it’s as quirky as big sister [name]Emery[/name]. Tough call.

[name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Annette[/name] [name]Mae[/name]… Oh wait, when I say it out loud, it sounds like a-nutmeg. [name]Do[/name] you hear that too?

I think it works with [name]Emery[/name] [name]Jane[/name]! [name]Annette[/name] [name]Ruth[/name]? [name]Annette[/name] [name]Marie[/name]? [name]Annette[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]?

[name]Annette[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] is perfect!! Gives it some flare.
