'One Born Every Minute' baby names

For those of you who don’t know what ‘One [name_m]Born[/name_m] [name_f]Every[/name_f] Minute’ is, it’s a television programme on [name_f]Channel[/name_f] 4 in the UK about a maternity ward in a hospital. The programme is currently on episode 4 of the series, & I’ve noted down the names that have been given to babies, as well as any reasons given.

[name_f]Chloe[/name_f] [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f] (Mother is called [name_f]Susan[/name_f] - may be where they got [name_f]Suzanne[/name_f]? Older brother is called [name_u]James[/name_u])

[name_f]India[/name_f] (Older brother is called [name_m]Woody[/name_m])

[name_u]Dexter[/name_u] (Dad wanted to call him [name_m]Zeus[/name_m], but Mum was having none of it! [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]'s older siblings = [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f] & [name_u]Finley[/name_u])

[name_m]Wilbert[/name_m] & [name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] i[/i]

[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] (Older siblings = [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] & [name_f]Ebony[/name_f])

[name_f]Emma[/name_f]

[name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (Mum briefly changed name to [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] whilst in hospital, but went back to [name_m]Jacob[/name_m])

[name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u]

[name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] (b) ([name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] is named after an XBOX game that the Dad played. Older siblings = [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f], [name_u]Riley[/name_u] & Shikara (sp?). [name_f]Alyssa[/name_f] is named after a character from Charmed, [name_u]Riley[/name_u] is named after the snooker tables as his Dad loves snooker, & Shikara is named after a yacht that the parents saw on TV whilst pregnant with her)

I was going to do a post about OBEM, at the end of the series. [name_m]Ah[/name_m] well, great minds think alike. :stuck_out_tongue: [name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are definitely [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and [name_f]Edith[/name_f] for girls, and [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilbert[/name_m] are really interesting as well. I quite like [name_f]India[/name_f], but only really for the nn [name_f]Indie[/name_f].

I have to admit watching OBEM sometimes just for the names.

I saw the [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] birth, didn’t [name_m]Zeus[/name_m] get middle-name’d? I like [name_m]Daniel[/name_m], [name_f]Emma[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], and [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m] is great.

[name_f]Jessica[/name_f] [name_f]Cicely[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]! I love randomly-but-quite-perfectly named twinsets like that.

One of my favourite OBEM names was Eivissa pronounced EYE-vee-sah, and her little sister [name_f]Cataleya[/name_f]. Somebody made a thread a few years ago Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums. I also found their blog accidently a couple of months ago (is that creepy?).

Another memorable one was a little girl named [name_f]Hope[/name_f] [name_f]Faith[/name_f]… I only remember because there was a shot of her dad on the phone to the grandparents like ‘‘I don’t care if you don’t ****ing like it, we’ve already named her it’’.

So pleased I’m not the only one to sit through an hour-long show just for the last few minutes when they announce the baby’s name! :slight_smile:
