I much prefer [name]Linus[/name], I like the handsome intelligence it exudes. I’ve never really loved [name]Felix[/name] for some reason.
I like [name]Linus[/name] a lot, and I think it’s much better than [name]Felix[/name]. As far as teasing goes, what about [name]Felix[/name] the __ (fe-licks the floor, butt, toilet, ds, whatever). Also the cat could lead to kids calling him p*. Kids are creative, and will find a way to tease anyone about their name, if they really want to. I think you should stick with [name]Linus[/name]
Well, I picked [name]Felix[/name] before reading your post (oops) because I personally like it best. It feels less clunky to me than [name]Linus[/name], and honestly I think the teasing potential, as others have noted, is about equal for both (but I don’t think kids get teased [name]JUST[/name] because of a name). If you were torn because you absolutely loved [name]BOTH[/name] names, then I’d say [name]Felix[/name]. However, after reading your post, I’d 100% say go with [name]Linus[/name]. It’s seems like [name]Felix[/name] is a compromise to you, and that means it’s not the right name for your son. [name]Linus[/name] seems to be the name you have your heart set on. You love it, your family loves it, so go with it. It goes wonderfully with [name]Sylvia[/name] as well (which, btw, I love!)
They both have some negatives ([name]Charlie[/name] [name]Brown[/name] & the blanket for [name]Linus[/name] and [name]Felix[/name] the cat & ‘feel’ ‘licks’), but I’d still go with [name]Felix[/name].
[name]Linus[/name] feels like the name of a computer program to me. Sort of a cross between dorky [name]Leonard[/name] and frilly latinized Linnaeus, the classification guy.
[name]Felix[/name] feels like it’s meeting the vintage theme and the dorky/cool theme.
Any time I hear the name [name]Linus[/name] I immediately think of [name]Charlie[/name] [name]Brown[/name], however I don’t necessarily think that’s a negative association. As for [name]Felix[/name], I personally would never have thought of [name]Felix[/name] the cat. I think that kids his age would be much more likely to know [name]Charlie[/name] [name]Brown[/name] than [name]Felix[/name] the cat, but like I said, neither are really a bad thing in my opinion.
In terms of popularity/commonality, I have never met anyone in real life with either of those names, however [name]Linus[/name] sounds a bit nerdier to me than [name]Felix[/name]. I wouldn’t have associated it with [name]Linux[/name] except maybe in a passing “hey, those words kinda sound similar” kind of way.
I say definitely go with your gut, because really, who is going to be repeating that name the most over the next 18+ years? You!
Forgot to add, I think [name]Linus[/name] goes better with [name]Sylvia[/name] than [name]Felix[/name] does
Oooh, I really like both. It sounds like you’re more in love with [name]Linus[/name], though. I don’t think your teasing concerns are a good enough reason to give up on it.
Thank you for humoring me!!
I was just chatting with a friend and she kinda forced me into defending [name]Linus[/name] which renewed my love for it again. I just need to go for it. I mean, with a daughter named [name]Sylvia[/name], it’s not like people expect us to name a son something like [name]Jackson[/name] or [name]Brayden[/name], KWIM?
[name]Linus[/name] by a mile. [name]Sylvia[/name] and [name]Linus[/name] are perfect together.
[name]Linus[/name] is a strong lovely name and it works very well with [name]Sylvia[/name] not to mention it seems like your real name love, I would go with your heart for this one
