One syllable first name and last name?

Dh and I just found out we’re expecting baby number 2. We have a son named [name]Tristan[/name]. We like the name [name]Kate[/name] (most likely as a nn for [name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Catherine[/name]) but our last name is only one syllable (rhymes with [name]May[/name]) and I’m wondering if it would sound weird. [name]Kate[/name] [name]May[/name]. What do you think?

It’s not bad, though it does remind me of Cape [name]May[/name], [name]New[/name] [name]Jersey[/name].

Our ln isn’t actually may, but it rhymes with it.

I rather like the short power of 1-1 names, although I’m probably in the minority here on NB. I think especially if you plan on naming her [name]Katherine[/name]/[name]Catherine[/name], you’re golden. [name]Kate[/name] “[name]May[/name]” sounds great, but if for whatever reason it doesn’t suit her to be 1-1 when she grows up, she can use [name]Katherine[/name], [name]Katie[/name], [name]Kathy[/name], etc.

I like the 1 and 1 names too. My brother is [name]John[/name] (only) with a 1-syll last name, I think its spunky, easy to remember, and distinctive.
