One Syllable Middle Names?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

We are looking for a one syllable middle name to go with our baby’s first name. We have decided to call him [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. We are thrilled with our choice!

His older sister’s name is [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]. Our surname starts with an ‘M’ and is two syllables long. We feel that the three-one-two combination has worked really well with her, so we are hoping to find an equally gorgeous, single syllable MN for our new bubba.

We have a few ideas already. I’ve listed what they are below, as well as the pros and cons we feel about each one.

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] - A simple, classic option, which flows well. The only negative is that my father-in-law’s name is [name_u]James[/name_u], and we were actually hoping to avoid naming baby after anyone in the family.
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] - Simple and spunky. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is a name we would have considered for his first name, but a very close friend has named her boy [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. Does [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] flow well, though?
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] - Simple and classic. I personally love the name [name_m]George[/name_m], but feel it’s too common as a first name for us. But, does [name_m]George[/name_m] work with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] the two ‘oar’ sounds in the names clash?
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] - a recent addition after a fellow [name_u]Berry[/name_u] suggested it. It has the same, spunky feel that [name_u]Jude[/name_u] does. Thoughts on this combo?

We would greatly appreciate more ideas, as well as your thoughts on our current list.

Thank you so much

Congratulations! [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is gorgeous, and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] goes with it really well. Of your options, I like most of them, although I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m] sort of goes best stylistically with [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] (although the repetitive -or- sounds does bother me a little). I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is also a great match. I love the unexpectedness of [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], as well, and while it’s a bit different from [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f], I can easily see [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] as siblings.

I also love [name_u]Jude[/name_u], but for some reason, I don’t like [name_u]Jude[/name_u] very much as a middle for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? I even like [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] much more, even though it’s obviously not an option.

A few other ideas:

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Zane[/name_m] (love this! It has the spunk of [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u], but I like the sound of it even more, I think. I’m biased, as [name_m]Zane[/name_m]‘s on my own list, but I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Zane[/name_m] is really, really cool!)
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Kit[/name_u] (sort of nicknamish, but I still think it’s cool)
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Seth[/name_u]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Noel[/name_u] ([name_m]NOLE[/name_m])
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Miles[/name_m]
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] (le sigh. One of my favorite one-syllable names! I think it’s so dashing and timeless, and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Grant[/name_m] sounds so great. Although maybe [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_m]Grant[/name_m] are too similar?)
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Dane[/name_u] (same feel and similar sound to/as [name_m]Zane[/name_m], but a little more refined. I think [name_u]Dane[/name_u] is rather cool, personally!)
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] (becoming more of a girls’ name here, but I think it’s such a cool boys’ name, and I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Bryn[/name_u] works well. It’s a Welsh name, meaning “hill”)

Good luck!

[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u]
Good luck!

I like [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] best if [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] is not an option.

[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] are the only ones I like with it.

Great feedback, ashthedreamer. Thanks so much!

From your suggestions, my favourites are [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Miles[/name_m].

The only problem with [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is that it is a family name, something we are trying to avoid. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t get me wrong, I think it’s really sweet to use a namesake, just not our style.

[name_m]Miles[/name_m] is great, but too much of a mouthful with our surname, which begins with -Mi-.

Thank you so much for your thoughts, though. Much appreciated
