Online Baby Nursery Finds (awful names edition)

I don’t mind some creativity as long as the name looks and sounds nice, but some are a little too creative. This post is not intended to be mean-spirited, so I apologize if it comes across that way (I’m lousy with words/phrasing too, so that probably doesn’t help).

Camreigh, Kamree (girl) - Car name for a girl.
Tadeon [name_u]Rex[/name_u] - Tadeon is too much for me. [name_u]Rex[/name_u] is okay, but I prefer it for a pet.
Axlie [name_f]Judith[/name_f] - Axlie is odd and feels nickname-y. Judith is great.
[name_f]Alessia[/name_f] [name_u]Persia[/name_u] - I have no problem with [name_f]Alessia[/name_f]. It’s actually very pretty. [name_u]Persia[/name_u] was a place, not a name. A rare few place names work well, but I can’t see it with this one.
Everlee [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] (girl) - A misspelled surname for a girl. [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] isn’t bad, but I’m still not a fan.
[name_u]Oakley[/name_u], [name_m]Oaklee[/name_m], Oaklynn, Oaklyn (girl) - I’ll never understand this trend.
[name_f]Emersyn[/name_f] (girl) - Really dislike the trend of respelling names with -y’s to make them more “feminine”.
[name_f]Neveah[/name_f], Navaeh, [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f] - [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f] is overused and I don’t understand the trend of spelling words backwards. No, I don’t think Nevaeh means the opposite of Heaven like some people do, but I also can’t picture it for an adult.
Lynnlee (girl) - Maybe if it was spelled Linley and it was a middle name, it wouldn’t be as bad (though I still don’t care for it either way).
[name_m]Princeton[/name_m] (boy) - Too pretentious sounding for me.
[name_m]Brantly[/name_m] (boy) - [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] or [name_m]Brant[/name_m] would age better.
Wrigley (boy) - I just think of the gum and the baseball field.
Atom (boy) - [name_m]Adam[/name_m] is great, Atom…not so much.
Lylian - Oddest spelling of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] I’ve ever seen. [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] is lovely, but this spelling is overdoing it.
Memory (girl) - Can’t picture it for an adult.
Epic (girl) - [name_m]Way[/name_m] too much to live up to!
Loxley (girl) - The sound of it is unattractive. The first part reminds me of salmon, like on a bagel. Not a fan of the -ley/lee/leigh ending in most cases either.
Aalaya (girl) - Too many A’s! Maybe [name_f]Alaia[/name_f]?
Brynnlee - [name_f]Brynn[/name_f] on its own I can somewhat tolerate, but Brynnlee looks/sounds overly “tryndee”.
Kaesyn (boy) - Not a fan. It’s very trendy. He’s still gonna blend in with kids named [name_m]Cason[/name_m] B, [name_m]Kason[/name_m] D, or [name_m]Kayson[/name_m] S.
Dodger (boy) - Better off using for a pet or as a nickname.
Draycn (boy) - Too tryndee/kre8tive.
Ayedan (boy) - [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] is okay (too trendy for my taste but the traditional spelling I can deal with in small doses), this spelling makes no sense phonetically.
[name_u]Rae[/name_u] ‘[name_u]Shawn[/name_u] (boy) - The “[name_u]Rae[/name_u]” spelling might get him mistaken for a girl, but if it were Raymond Sean/Shawn, nickname Ray Shawn, it would look better. The apostrophe is unnecessary.
[name_m]Cayleb[/name_m] - Horrible spelling of [name_m]Caleb[/name_m].
Khodi (boy) - What’s wrong with [name_u]Cody[/name_u]?
Bencen (boy. Sibling: Keslynn) - [name_m]Benson[/name_m] is okay, Bencen makes no sense. Luckily, he could always go by [name_m]Ben[/name_m]. Keslynn is weird.
[name_m]Arrow[/name_m] Gatlin (boy) - Words are not names.
Lejend [name_u]Ray[/name_u] (boy) - Too much to live up to, and it’s misspelled.
[name_u]Paisley[/name_u] [name_f]Chanel[/name_f] (girl) - I can’t picture an adult with it. A kid’s only gonna be a kid for so long, so she should have a name that will grow up with her.
Brixton (girl) - Horrible for a boy, even more so for a girl.
[name_m]Braxton[/name_m] (boy) - I can’t get that certain association out of my head.
Valkyrie (girl) - At least she can go by [name_u]Val[/name_u].
Azaylee (girl) - [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] or Zélie would be a lot nicer, or spell it Azélie which looks more authentic.
Lyrac (girl) - Awful spelling.
Azlyn (girl) - Maybe [name_f]Ashlyn[/name_f], or better yet, [name_f]Aislinn[/name_f] or [name_f]Aisling[/name_f]?
Ameilya - Another classic name misspelled.
[name_u]JaLyn[/name_u] (boy) - No clue how to pronounce this one. [name_u]Jay[/name_u]-lyn or something else?
Aliceson (girl) - Why not [name_u]Allison[/name_u] or [name_f]Alice[/name_f]? This spelling is awkward.
Brittlyn (girl) - I just hear “brittle” and “Ritalin”.
Abraela (girl) - No idea on this one.
Kynder (girl) - Maybe [name_f]Kimber[/name_f] instead? Kinder/Kynder is a hard “name” to live with. It’s setting her up for unrealistic expectations.
Curbie (boy) - This is not a good idea. Kirby is a nicer choice. [name_u]Kirby[/name_u] is unusual and video game character aside, it’s a lot less likely to cause problems for the kid.
[name_f]Kynnedi[/name_f] (girl) - Hate [name_u]Kennedy[/name_u] for girls, but I think I dislike this one more.
[name_f]Emberlee[/name_f] [name_u]Kay[/name_u] (girl) - I just think of wood-burning fireplaces when I hear [name_u]Ember[/name_u]. The -lee ending is overdone.
Juliyah [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] - [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is gorgeous, Juliyah is awkward.
Skarlett [name_f]Mae[/name_f] - I don’t care for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] much, but it’s familiar enough that most people won’t have trouble with it. The spelling of Skarlett makes my eye twitch.
Addix [name_u]Kade[/name_u] (boy) - I don’t get the first name. Too close to “addict.” [name_u]Kade[/name_u] is not my style, but not awful either.
Airrie [name_f]Mae[/name_f] - Maybe as a nickname for [name_f]Arielle[/name_f], [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], or something similar?
Aunya [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - [name_f]Anya[/name_f] is already kind of unusual. Why misspell it?
[name_m]Adrain[/name_m] Ledrew (boy) - o.O; [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] [name_u]Drew[/name_u] would have been better.
Avarey Rayleigh (girl) - Misspelled and both names also share the -ee sound at the end. It doesn’t flow.
Brailey [name_f]Christine[/name_f] (girl) - [name_f]Christine[/name_f] is good, Brailey is odd. Reminds me of braille.
Ciylee (girl) - Unclear pronunciation and odd spelling.
Carrera [name_f]Porsche[/name_f] (girl) - Carrera is surname-y, [name_f]Porsche[/name_f] is a car. Maybe [name_f]Portia[/name_f]?
Henslie [name_f]Justine[/name_f] (girl) - [name_f]Justine[/name_f] is okay. Henslie is too much.
[name_m]Huntleigh[/name_m] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - Another surname misspelled…for a girl.
Holdin [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] (girl) - [name_m]Holden[/name_m] is a boys’ name and the combo sounds more like a phrase.
Haylynn [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] - Why not [name_f]Hayley[/name_f] [name_f]Michelle[/name_f] instead? It’s got a similar sound but is not as common as it used to be.
Icely J’[name_u]Lynn[/name_u] [name_u]Michele[/name_u] - It’s really odd.
Innocence [name_f]Nicole[/name_f] - The first name is not a good idea, for practical reasons. Nicole is fine.
[name_m]Kyler[/name_m] [name_f]Moon[/name_f] (girl) - Not a fan. Kyler is too trendy, so is Moon.
Kreed Jaxxon (boy) - Kreed sounds too close to greed and the spelling of Jaxxon is odd.
Khalessi [name_u]Storm[/name_u] (girl) - Naming your kid after a Game of Thrones character (or in this case, her title) is not a good idea. [name_u]Storm[/name_u] is not pleasant either. The association with weather is hard to shake.
Kenzleigh [name_u]Lane[/name_u] (girl) - Not feminine and doesn’t age well.
[name_m]Kash[/name_m] Leelynn (boy) - [name_u]Leland[/name_u] looks nicer. I also don’t care for [name_m]Kash[/name_m]/[name_m]Cash[/name_m], as it’s another word for money.
Laylin [name_u]Onyx[/name_u] (girl) - The first name is too word-y, and [name_u]Onyx[/name_u] feels masculine.
[name_f]Pixie[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] (girl) - [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] is better off for a pet or as a nickname. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is lovely.
[name_m]Pearson[/name_m] [name_m]Hill[/name_m] (girl) - I can’t help but think it sounds like a law firm.
Ridgley [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - Ridgley is not feminine. [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] is pretty.
[name_u]Remington[/name_u] [name_u]December[/name_u] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] (girl) - Too word-y, and [name_u]Remington[/name_u] reminds me of the gun so I’d assume this was a boy if I heard it. [name_u]December[/name_u] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] is too much. I’d suggest using one or the other and pair it with something traditional to balance it.
Tylie [name_u]Lou[/name_u] (girl) - Tylie is too close to the masculine [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]. [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] is a nicer alternative. As for the middle name, [name_f]Louise[/name_f] sounds more polished for a girl than [name_u]Lou[/name_u]. It would give her more options if she dislikes being called [name_m]Ty[/name_m] or Tylie.

Any other odd names/spellings you’ve seen or heard lately? Can be from an online nursery or something you’ve come across in real life.

This is so mean-spirited.

I quite like [name_u]Storm[/name_u] and [name_m]Arrow[/name_m], actually.

I call OP mean-spirited and childish.
