Hello, I have 2 boys, [name]Atticus[/name] and [name]Dexter[/name] and expecting a girl. I haven’t had to think of girl names before, they are hard! Seems all the good ones are now very popular. Here are my favorites, I’d love to hear thoughts and insight!
[name]Opal[/name]: I love it, my husband despises it.
[name]Iris[/name]: I like a lot, my husband doesn’t really like it.
[name]Evangeline[/name]: I always liked, but maybe a little frilly and I don’t care for nn [name]Eva[/name] or [name]Angie[/name].
[name]Ingrid[/name]: I like, maybe a little blah.
[name]Tuesday[/name]: My husband likes.
Thanks!
I [name]ADORE[/name] both [name]Opal[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]! Two of my long-standing favourites.
I think [name]Ingrid[/name] is nice, and [name]Evangeline[/name] is fine… I don’t care for [name]Tuesday[/name] though, sorry.
I’m with your husband on this. [name]Opal[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] are kind of bland and antiqued, though if I had to pick I’d go with [name]Iris[/name]. [name]Evangeline[/name] and [name]Ingrid[/name] are nice though, and I think you could easily avoid [name]Eva[/name] and [name]Angie[/name] if you wanted to. [name]Tuesday[/name] is easily my favorite of the set though and goes well with your sons names. A bit quirky and offbeat, but not too odd.
Thanks for the insight
With [name]Atticus[/name] and [name]Dexter[/name], I do really like [name]Tuesday[/name], although it’s generally nms. [name]Ingrid[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] are my other favorites on your list, but if you’re not feeling them, look for another!

Oh, [name]Opal[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] are both on my list, with [name]Iris[/name] currently a top contender!
I recently posted a thread asking for people’s opinions and other suggestions here –
[name]Ingrid[/name] - I quite like [name]Ingrid[/name], it is both cute and strong (if that is possible). You can imagine it as an equally good name for a baby and a grown lady.
[name]Evangeline[/name] - Gorgeously frilly, for some reason I just can’t bring myself to love this name.
[name]Tuesday[/name] - Cute. I wouldn’t have the guts to use this as a first name, but would consider it (or [name]Wednesday[/name] or [name]Sunday[/name]) in the middle name spot.
[name]LOVE[/name] [name]Opal[/name] and [name]Tuesday[/name]. [name]Evangeline[/name] is nice but won’t be offbeat for much longer. And I can’t stand [name]Ingrid[/name] and [name]Iris[/name]–I like most I-names, but these two just rub me the wrong way for some reason.
I second suggestions of [name]Wednesday[/name] and [name]Sunday[/name]! Especially [name]Sunday[/name], as I’m crushing pretty hard on it atm.
More quirky/flower names:
[name]Aviva[/name]
[name]Azalea[/name]
[name]Chrysanthemum[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name]/[name]Clio[/name]
[name]Hero[/name]
[name]Isis[/name]
[name]Magnolia[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name]
[name]Ondine[/name]
[name]Ozma[/name]
[name]Petra[/name]
[name]Saffron[/name]
[name]Tansy[/name]
[name]Thisbe[/name]
I’m so surprised people like [name]Tuesday[/name]! Idk, maybe if it had a cute nn. Feeling stumped! Darn hubby against [name]Iris[/name]…

Nameberry - Welcome to the Nameberry Forums[/
Thanks, lots of great names to pour over. Has me thinking about [name]Henrietta[/name]. I guess [name]Opal[/name] will not be a contender, because of Hubby. Too bad, I always loved them, and they are beautiful and fiery and pretty at the same time. [name]Iris[/name], I do like very much still, working on hubby about it. [name]Ingrid[/name], wished I love, instead of like. It means fertility, and since I find myself pregnant after 15 years of ivf for my boys, it is fitting!
I have an [name]Iris[/name]… so I’m biased. But here’s why we chose it: 2 syllables (no annoying nn), flower image, vintage image PLUS she was the Ancient Greek goddess of the rainbow. I think it sounds strong and unfrilly while still being very feminine (it might be the [name]Iris[/name]/ Iron sound?)
I’d go for [name]Iris[/name]!
BTW have you considered [name]Xanthe[/name]? It’s on my top 4 list (expecting a girl) and I liked it for shared qualities with [name]Iris[/name] - 2 syllables, ancient greek. It means ‘golden one’.
Exactly why I love it [name]Margot[/name]! Have to work on the hubby though.
