[name_f]My[/name_f] girl name list has gotten out of hand and I would love some serious help narrowing it down and making some great combinations. I’m fairly sure of middle names already. I like:
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]
[name_f]Serenity[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]
[name_f]Verity[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]
For first names though, I feel like I have looked at this list so many times I have lost all perspective. [name_f]My[/name_f] list currently includes:
Please help me narrow this list down and balance it out with my combonations.
Siblings are [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]
From your list, I think these go best with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] (which are great names, BTW)
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f]
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f]
[name_f]Johanna[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Leonora[/name_f]
[name_f]Margaux[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Virginia[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_f]My[/name_f] other favorites from your list are
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_f]Arwen[/name_f]
[name_f]Cerys[/name_f]
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f]
[name_f]Luna[/name_f]
[name_f]Magnolia[/name_f]
[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f]
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f]
[name_f]Valencia[/name_f]
Below are some reasons to eliminate. Please don’t be offended! You asked for some help specifically to narrow down your list:
[name_f]Amabel[/name_f] - too close to the more popular [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f] in sound, constant mispronunciation by others
[name_f]Amity[/name_f] - Amityville horror house
[name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] - [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]…association is of a spoiled, stuck-up, self-indulgent girl
[name_f]Avalon[/name_f] - she will get sick of people telling her that her name is from [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]
[name_f]Cerelia[/name_f] - pronunciation issues re: eh or ee sounds, not clear which syllable to accent, too close to [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Cerys[/name_f] - pronunciation issues
[name_f]Clarity[/name_f] - an unfortunate, tease-able name when she stumbles to express herself clearly or makes a mistake on schoolwork
[name_f]Clemency[/name_f] - a legal term evoking criminal prosecution system
[name_u]Domini[/name_u] - Gregorian chanting
[name_u]Echo[/name_u] - so irresistibly tease-able that even teachers will make fun of this (I used to work in schools)
[name_f]Jemima[/name_f] - maple syrup brand (Aunt [name_f]Jemima[/name_f])
[name_f]Kasiani[/name_f] - pronunciation issues
[name_f]Kerenza[/name_f] - credenza
[name_f]Mercy[/name_f] - an unfortunate, teasable name to have when you are showing the normal irritation, frustration, stress like any person who has a bad day
[name_f]Tillie[/name_f] - rhymes with silly
[name_u]Waverly[/name_u] - Wizards of [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] Place, [name_u]Waverly[/name_u] Hills Sanitorium
[name_f]Winnie[/name_f] - sound a horse makes
I love the feedback. The more the better. [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] is the only name I’m not very flexible on. My grandmother who died before I was born was [name_u]Joan[/name_u] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] and I would love to have a part of her. That said, I don’t feel that it is very usable in the first name slot due to [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] is a name I love but when I got married I ended up with a cousin in law who had a daughter named [name_f]Serenity[/name_f]. I am very against repeats so this one would have to be in the middle if I can use it at all. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is a name I like that has a family connection on my husbands side and it might be nice to have both middles be family names again. I love the meaning behind [name_f]Verity[/name_f] and also love that it is the name of the original producer of a [name_m]Doctor[/name_m] Who.
And of course if you could make any suggestions of names that seem to fit my style and go with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], that would be awesome.
Of the middle name options, I greatly prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f]. [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] and [name_f]Verity[/name_f], which nice options, clash with [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f] for me due to the T’s ([name_f]Verity[/name_f]'s not too bad; I think the amount of syllables in [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] throws flow off too).
With [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], I think [name_f]Imogen[/name_f] works best of your bunch. My favourite with the middles would have to be [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] [name_f]Antoinette[/name_f], [name_f]Amabel[/name_f] of which I believe works beautifully with [name_m]Elijah[/name_m] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] really well too.
