I’m not expecting any daughters, but I’m always pondering names :)What I’m wondering now is, how would [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]/[name_f]Saphira[/name_f] work as sisters? I am in love with the “ph” sound at the moment. I love [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and am thinking about [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]/[name_f]Saphira[/name_f].
I love both names because of their sounds and their histories, [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] from [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m], and [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f], from the Bible. My only concern is that [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] wasn’t exactly the “best” character in the Bible (according to Wikipedia- Christians, is this true?)
So please, let me know? What do you think of each name? Would they work as sisters?
I’d also love other suggestions- other sounds I love are “v”, “th”, “f” and to start a name, “Is”. Thanks in advance!
Oh wow, glad to see another berry who likes [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]. I feel like it’s seriously underused. I am not a christian, so personally I think of the sapphires (which are my favourite gems) before the bible character.
I think [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] sound great as sisters.
OMG! We have the same taste in names! Def following this thread!
It’s too bad the biblical [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] has a rather negative connotation, although i wouldn’t say it’s common knowledge so you could still go for it. I especially love the double pp in it, so would stick with the spelling [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f].
One name that immediately came to my mind for you is [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] (my current favorite, should I have a girl next.)
If it wasn’t too popular I would love to use [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]. I’d probably be okay using a top 100 name, but not the #1 name where I live So I’m looking for other “ph” names that start with S.
I love [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], but is it too long to go well with [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]? That was my concern. I like the sound of [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], too, now that you suggested it @vc2013!
@luneth- My birthstone is a sapphire, and I’ve always loved the jewel! I became concerned that when I googled the name [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f], all that came up was a bunch of people who thought it was a “stripper name”. Plus, I like the sound of [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f].
I like [name_f]Saphira[/name_f] but never been a fan of [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. While I do think they are similar names and match nicely, I kind of feel like saying them together as a sibset is a bit of a mouthful as they have a lot of similar sounds. I guess it depends on how often you’d actually be saying them together as ‘[name_f]Saphira[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]’
I think [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] are a gorgeous pair! I wouldn’t get too invested in the biblical connotations, after all, [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] is a top 200 name, now.
I think [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] work well. I’m [name_m]Christian[/name_m] and I’ve never heard of a [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] in the Bible.
I love [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]/[name_f]Saphira[/name_f] together! (I have no preference about the spelling on the second one.) I think they sound lovely, and I think their “ph” sounds are really nice together without being over-the-top.
Uh… no, I never think of it as a stripper name. It’s not like [name_f]Diamond[/name_f] or [name_f]Crystal[/name_f], imo. I don’t know any [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f], just two Safiras and neither of them evoke a stripper image to me, so maybe that’s why.
